The JAS sig looks ok, yet causes me pause. I don't know why, except that it looks a little shaky. I probably would not buy it, since I am paranoid about flat-signed books.

It's fine. I sold five books with the same rushed signature without tickets. I kept those to myself and keep them laid in in my books.
One could also buy multiple copies without having a ticket.

I would be a little concerned that this seller states, "THIS WAS SIGNED AT AN EVENT SPONSORED BY SIMON AND SCHUSTER IN TORONTO, ONTARIO CANADA" (not true) and does not mention IFOA or PEN Canada who actually put on the event.It's fine. The seller is clearly confused about the details. Though could King just go and do these things without consulting his agent and publisher? Maybe, but I doubt it. So in a way, the seller isn't completely wrong...just not completely right either.
The signature looks EXACTLY like the chicken scratch from that event. If you HONESTLY believe that this particular listing "could be legit or could be a fake," than we're all screwed without photographic evidence, should we decide to sell our signed books. HOWEVER I feel way more confident buying from those:
1) Who know what they are talking about . . . and or
2) Who can prove what they are saying . . . . and or
3) Have a reputation we trust.....
