Me too.
What's the difference between a slipcase & a traycase?
cf the DOCTOR SLEEP by CD for instance

A slipcase is a case that's open on one side, so you can slide the book in and still see the spine. A traycase is a closed case with a lid - you open the lid, put the book in and close it, and you don't see the book anymore.
(very primitive explanation )
Some photos here might help:

The brown one is the slipcase and the black one is the traycase!

Since SP's NOS4A2 doesn't come with a slipcase I was considering ordering myself a custom one once I get the measurements.
Are there any recommended and affordable services? I'm not looking for something extravagant, just something that's sturdy and protects the book from harm.

Royal with cheese?
Hi all. I am new, so I apologize if I have posted this in the wrong place. My copy of Waste Lands has come up missing. I am hoping to replace it with the same edition. It is porbably not valuable in any way, however I still have the dustjacket. (What happened- I split from my ex and he took the book, along with my favorite CD and my favorite movie.) The ISBN on mine is 0-9367986-17-8. When I search for it, I am unsure how to make sure I get that one and not another hardcover edition. Does anyone have any tips? Or know how I can tell what I am getting if the ISBN is different? Thanks all!
I can only say that that's the ISBN on my Grant Wastelands. It should be unique to that, shouldn't it?
I would think... It just seems like when I try to find a copy, the sites have other ISBN's listed, and I can't seem to figure out how to be sure I'm getting the right one. Amazon, for instance, lists ISBN-13: 978-0937986172 on the same page to purchase.
I would suggest one of the mods move this thread to the Collecting Questions thread. You may get more answers there.

And your best bet is to buy the book on a website where you can see what you're buying - eBay for instance. You should always (literally) judge a book by its cover. I would never rely on an ISBN when ordering a book.
Is this the book you are seeking?

I'd be glad to help out. I already have a couple on the back-order list waiting for measurements .... mine would be out of wood. - a no-frills slipcase (no engraving, labels etc) would run $80 ..... may be a little expensive but it would last you till it floated away with Noah in the flood!!

In general is it not the best idea to use the ISBN to buy his books, unless you are just looking for any old copy and don't really care about things like it being a first printing. I suggest you head over to the catalog (Randall Flagg linked you to the page in the catalog for this title) and check out how to tell a first printing from other printings. Good luck and I highly suggest you make sure to get pics of the book you are getting before you buy, also make sure you know how the seller packs his/her books for shipping BEFORE you commit to buy from them.
