A Mr Burns...excellent........
Hey folks,
I just saw your posts asking for an update so thought I should let you all know what's happening...
Michael and I talked about the colours of the sculpture in detail and I did a number of weeks of reworking and adjusting, colour testing etc. All the while sending photos back to Michael and discussing the best options. Everything is now agreed on the adjustments and I'm painting up another sculpture right now in those new colours. Once that's done I'll send photos to Michael and post the new pics here too. The main change was to brighten up his robes to make them much more orange to match Michael's painting more closely and reducing the amount of dark paint in the creases to allow a more natural shadowing from the sculptural form itself. I have also made some changes to the skulls so that it has a gradient going from bottom to top, darker to lighter as the sculpture rises up and then lightened the candles and wax to be much more white.
In the meantime I have been emailing back and forth with Michael and Audrey, ironing out the final details on getting the sculptures up for sale. We're pretty close to finalising everything now and I expect we'll have everything done and dusted more or less when I get this sculpture painted and finished. I can then go ahead and start taking orders. In summary, we should be a matter of a few weeks away from taking orders as I don't foresee any further issues to resolve and Michael appears to be content and extremely happy with the sculpture. Just the final loose ends of business discussion to take care of now I think.

Thanks for the update.
It sounds like you've found a way to make it even more awesome!

Great news! Good luck with the reworking!
Thanks for the update, Rachel. Looking forward to seeing it!

Another update for you all and it is good news.
All the discussion with Michael about the why's and wherefor's of the Crimson King Sculpture are done and we are all agreed on the fine details.
I'm just about finished painting the sculpture with the refinements of colours and just have his arms and face to do, along with final tidying up here and there and lastly the protective UV varnish. I should have the painting done and be ready to begin spraying varnish coats on Sunday or Monday. Photos will follow as soon as it is done.
Following that, I'll co-ordinate everything with Michael and post the ordering details here as well as updating my website. This time is a definite green light for GO and we're probably a week or two away from official release once this sculpture is done. If you're not already subscribed to Michael Whelan's newsletter then sign up at michaelwhelan.com as well as keeping a vigilant eye on his website, my website and right here on thedarktower.org!!!

"A real limited edition, far from being an expensive autograph stapled to a novel, is a treasure. And like all treasures do, it transforms the responsible owner into a caretaker, and being a caretaker of something as fragile and easily destroyed as ideas and images is not a bad thing but a good one...and so is the re-evaluation of what books are and what they do that necessarily follows." - Stephen King
Hehe, yes, it's a long way to Tipperary... and to Cornwall. If I'm here when the time comes then you're more than welcome! Average drive time to me from London at that time of year is more like eight hours, 'cause of all the emmets.
Just perfecting and putting finishing touches to the sculpture now, photos soon.

Sorry for the wait on more news for the Crimson King sculpture. I'm just waiting on a response from Michael & Audrey to my last email but it's been a long time since I sent it so I'll email them again and see if we can get this moving. Just need to confirm a few details with them and choreograph timing etc. I'm ready to go as soon as they are! I will post info as soon as I can.
One thing I can let you all know at this point is the retail price of the sculptures. It will be £1999 GBP including shipping to most countries. Some far afield places such as Australia and remote/rural adresses may incur a higher shipping cost but I can confirm this at the time. There will be more details and info/T's & C's which I will post once we are ready to go.
Thanks for your patience waiting for this and I am eager to get things happening ASAP...

$2,845 US. I better go water my money tree.
That's actually lower than I had thought it would be. Nice!
