Does anybody mind disclosing if they've received they're tickets yet?
I've yet to see my tickets & I live near Portland Oregon as well.
Thanks

No VIP tix received yet either, but as mentioned upthread, they aren't supposed to go out until early September. So I don't expect to see anything until after Labor Day weekend.
Since I won't be attending, reading this thread is becoming more painful as the event draws nearer. Boo hoo.
Hi Guys,
Need some opinions...I am going to the VIP Meet and Greet with King as well as the Mason Award Presentation and have two golden tickets. My question is which books to sign, I have three classic first editions.
1. The Stand- Pretty sharp copy, no markings, some light chipping on the dust jacket but overall VG +, The book itself has some age toning to the outer edges of some of the pages, but that's it. I'd again say VG on the book. All First Edition Points Present ($12.95 + T39)
2. The Shining- NF Dust Jacket and NF Book All First Edition Points Present ($7.95 + R49)
3. 'Salem's Lot First Edition Second State Dust Jacket- The Dust jacket I'd rate as good- It has crumbling at both the top and bottom parts of the spine DJ as well as a 1" Tear on the back that has been taped and a small oval on the back corner of the DJ where the book opens. The book I'd rate as good as well. The biggest problem with the book is the numbnuts owner signed her name in the front paste down in the upper right corner. There is also a light water stain on the outer edges of the book near the top. No rips or tears, not an ex-lib or anything. Again, all First Edition 2nd State points present (Clipped with $7.95 new price, Father Cody and Q37 all present).
So, What say you, experts?
The Shining and The Stand........without question.
Especially since numbnuts put her name in 'Salem's.

Take the two books that you yourself will be most happy to have signed. If you have to ask others which book to take-then you haven't thought about it.
If you are asking purely from a speculative point, that is another question entirely.
Getting a 2010 King scribbled signature (because that is what to expect) on a 1970's book marred by a "numb-nuts" doesn't even add $100 in value.
I am still taking Gunslinger 1st/1st for sure now, got a Cell flatsigned otw thanks to twistednadine, so it takes that crazy thought outta my mind. I just really love that book for some reason (Cell)

Good call. I would probly try my RAGE and have my gunslinger a a back-up.
I really liked CELL also.
Brian.
From a speculative point of view- I paid $400 for a first edition night shift - with a book store stamp in the front. Would that be worth getting a signature from Stephen King? Should i even have paid $400 for a stamped book?
I have narrowed my ability to obtain two signatures down to 6 books. Carrie 1st edition, Shining 1st edition, Gunslinger 1st edition, Salem's Lot 1st edition, The stand 1st edition (not in the best condition), Night Shift (above) I decided against Rage per all suggestions/comments above.
I think you over-paid for the Night Shift. I wouldn't bother getting it signed, myself. As far as the others, I personally would go with The Gunslinger and Salem's Lot if all you're interested in is increasing the value.
John
If you are just thinking of speculative value I would consider CARRIE. I am shocked when I see asking prices for signed copies of that book. They seem way out of proportion to other signed books by King. I'm not certain that they are selling at those prices though.
I'd go with The Shining, personally, but only because of its significance to me, value aside. For me, that trumps value any day.
A NEW GAME BEGINS
Very good point RF. To me it makes a huge difference if he will personalize. Im bringing my unsigned Stand 'cause Im really hoping he will personalize it cause I already have a Stand inscribed to someone else and dont really need or want one flatsigned with a 2010 scribble. So Im bringing backups. If flatsigned is all we get then Carrie and Salems Lot are my choices. If there is any way in hell I can get him to personalize then Stand and Shining would be the picks.
The asking prices for a Signed Carrie 1st Edition on eBay are ridiculously overpriced. The last two that actually sold (over the course of the last 12 months) were actually $1,300 and $1,600.
$1,500 is a logical, fair price consistent with current market conditions.......
Here is a "shout out" to all those eBay sellers trying to sell a signed King for more than $2,000.....LOWER YOUR PRICE! YOU MAY ACTUALLY SELL IT!
I am taking Cook's advise and getting him to sign "The Shining" my personal favorite! That is my final decision until i change my mind again, and again, and again......
I dont know. "My pretty pony" is out of print now just kidding. unless we can smooze him into signing all the books we bring. I say we circle him and promise not to touch him if he signs all our books. I know he has a thing about being touched or even shaking hands now since the whole H1N1 thing. Probly haveing flashbacks to "the stand" hmmmmm... maybe hes a prophet anyway back to my plan.. whos in.
