Sorry, but I would have to disagree. First off, there's no way he's getting 7 books of story into 3 feature films, even if they let him run 3hrs each. Granted, I'm sure the TV series will figure prominently for the back story that appears in W&G and the comics may enhance that some, but he's gonna have to cover fairly major book storylines in the TV Series.

From what I've read, the second series will deal with the back story. (No doubt this could change though.) So yes, it's likely the film cast will feature in the series too. I don't see that as a problem though. I know that people who make the transition from series to film often don't come back (although there are notable exceptions. Kiefer Sutherland for example.) but the very fact this project will be both should be quite a novelty. Sure it'll be a big project, but no doubt the big stars will get paid accordingly.

Personally, I'd rather they go with unknowns but I can understand the logic why they might not. Personally, I've always been more drawn to genre and story rather than actors but I know many do not. (Often coincidentally the same actors turn up in various films though!)

I don't know maybe he might be too old now, but I have always thought of Christain Slater as being perfect for Eddie Dean. He has the look and also the personality that can deliver the sarcastic street-smart attitude of Eddie Dean.

Also call me crazy but I have always thought of Mel Gibson as being perfect to star as Roland! Especially since I saw this picture from The Waste Lands:



This totally looks like Mel Gibson. I think that Mel Gibson has the crazy attitude to pull of playing Roland. Mel Gibson has an odd personality like Roland. Mel Gibson says what he fells like and does what he feels like (as does Roland) any thoughts?

I love Christian Slater, don't see him as eddie though! I think he could play another role though, a cunning villain perhaps.

Size doesn't matter in Tinseltown. Look at LOTR and Rocky (Sly is like 5'6"!!!). Damron may have used Conners, but King was going for Clint Eastwood. While both Connors and Eastwood are out, I would think that Clint in "The Good, the Bad & The Ugly" is still the primary prototype

haven't been here in ages (my apologies). I assume this could be the thread where we post our "dream cast" for the movie. I have been browsing sites today that suggested certain actors for the roles and I totally agree with some, disagree with many others. but I was surprised no one mentioned the idea of Ben Foster playing the role of Eddie Dean. He fits much in the way Sean William Scott would...but I feel is more appropriate.

Thoughts?

I'm def with Feverishparade on this. Jon Hamm . . . I like Viggo but he seems so obvious a choice. Id be down with Guy Pierce also. He has that lankiness that a "well casted" Roland would need. No Javier Bardem though. I am not likg this news.

I think Guy Pearce would make an awesome choice! He majorly like Roland. And he has dealt with guns in his acting roles.

I think so too. I googled some pics of her. She looks great prettied up and pulls off a good "ugly" side too. I think she looks like Susannah.
