Have you seen The Lobster? I'm wondering if the direction of the acting is the same in that one.

A NEW GAME BEGINS
I have, and it is similar. Although this one felt even more mechanical.
Very interesting. I would add that not only does the film show how when you put all your energy into caring for your children, that you can stop taking care of yourself, but that the relationship between husband and wife can also suffer. We've seen it time and time again that when a mom and dad put so much energy into their children, they forget to foster their own personal relationship that will help their marriage flourish. It's understandable, but equally sad. I'm not married, but I can imagine this being a difficult thing to balance. In fact, I've seen it first hand with my own parents.
Tully was a fantastic film and Theron NEEDS to be remembered come Oscar season.

Overboard:
This remake is saved by two ideas-swapping the spoiled rich roles from the original, and having a Mexican flair to it. ~20% of the movie is in Spanish with English subtitles. The male start is apparently a big star in Mexico. He's quite funny and a bit like a hispanic version of Mr. Bean. Of course it's predictable, and very maudlin at the end, but there are some laughs to be had.

at last have watched mother!
oh good lord, what a wonderful, fantastic, delightful, witty, multifaceted, subtle, bittersweet, ingenious first half - pure genius!
the second half, or maybe less - maybe the ratio of perfect/trite is rather 2:1 or even 3:1 - was a huge letdown (everything got sooooo flat, one-dimensional and sadly predictable), but the sheer ecstasy of the first (two thirds? three quarters?) was enough to get me through the banality of the rest. Will certainly re-watch it lots of times, but not the whole of it.

"Dark Crimes/True Crimes" is Jim Carrey's new movie. Jim I felt did one hell of an acting job. I loved the atmosphere and his character's relentless pursuit for the truth regardless of who he hurts. Movie felt a little slow at times, a tad predictable, but overall it was nice to see Jim in a completely different and refreshing role. 8/10

Deadpool 2:
Everything that Avengers wasn't. Funny, with hundreds of inside industry, and pop culture references (too many to catch in one viewing), no fear of breaking the fourth wall. Long tedious battle scenes don't exist, they are constantly interrupted with something funny. The parachute scene is worth the price of admission alone.
Several cool cameos, including one that will likely have you waiting for the credits to be sure who it was.

So many damn great nerd moments in Deadpool. I almost shat my pants when he says "Watch out, he's only 5'11, not like in the comics!"
Or what about "So dark!! Are you sure you're not from the DC universe!?" LMAO

Loved Deadpool 2. What I did not love was the family that decided to bring two children under the age of 6 or 7 and a toddler to the screening. I hope those parents had a LOT of awkward questions to answer on the ride home. I'm guessing a few of those questions would have to do with the trailer for the Melissa McCarthy puppet movie complete with a puppet ejaculation (two words I never thought I'd put together in a sentence but OK) scene.

Annihilation
Whoa!!! Classic case of a well edited trailer selling the film. I should have known better since it was VOD, but the trailer and the high profile cast lead me to throw caution to the wind. I'll start with the only redeeming quality I thought the film had and that was the cinematography and visuals. Stunning at times and generally just real cool Sci-Fi effects. Otherwise, this was a film in search of a plot. The list of stupid plot points and wandering theme is too long to get into, but in the end I really couldn't discern any real point to the film. It is a shame to because on the surface it had such promise but failed to go in any one direction or have any plausible point it was trying to make.
Save your 6$ for the PPV and avoid it when it hits the premium cable channels. -1 on the RF beers movie rating scale (0-6 I believe) lol lol
