Now that you mention it I guess it is.
Spoiler:
Every copy of this book and Clive Barker's Imagica that I come across (with the exception of book club copies) seem to have this issue. I have been collecting since around 93, so not that long after the book came out. I was wondering if anyone who bought it when it came out and has had it on the shelf since has noticed this? I am going to guess that Needful Things pretty much answered this question, he has been collecting a long time.

Right you are IMAJICA & THE STAND both have the same problem & both bought new when they first came out.
Living in Florida, but being from in Ohio and Indiana, I like to keep the house in the 70-73 degree range. I have always wondered if this is a problem these books have everywhere or if it was maybe caused by environmental issues?

I think it's just the nature of the beast.
According to the publisher's letter the publication date is May 18, 1990.

According to Peter Schneider (Marketing Director for Doubleday for The Stand Uncut), the book went on sale Wednesday April 25th, 1990.
He has a video of the display window of B. Dalton located on the ground floor of the same building as Doubleday books (666 Fifth Avenue, NYC).
Thanks, RF! These publication dates are really hard to pin down!
