I haven't seen this info anywhere on here quite yet so I'll add it here - I have both a first printing (R49) copy as well as a second (or at least quite early) printing with an S10 gutter code, and the dust jackets are absolutely identical for both ($8.95, ISBN, flap pictures and placement, etc - the jackets are 100% identical and interchangeable.) I've seen this before on other second printing listings as well, so it appears not to be an anomaly - they must have reused the first printing jackets for at least the second printing as well. Which certainly isn't an unheard of occurrence.
I (and I'm sure others here) have seen auctions for "first printing" jackets alone for The Shining go for hundreds of dollars while second printing copies with the identical dust jacket included go for significantly less, in a very similar and sometimes better condition. I suppose that's the nature of public auctions, though.
Interesting observation. Keen buyers probably have that in mind. Thanks for the info.
I’ve found cheap copies of later printing Salem’s with third state jacket and later printing shining with first printing jacket both when I first started collecting. A keen way to upgrade a jacket in early stages if paying attention.

(I’m fairly certain this is probably knowledge you personally already have, just adding it here for when people look it up):
Indeed, that’s part of the reason why even though there were less third state Salem’s Lot copies released with the $7.95 Callahan DJ (20k 2nd vs 7.5k 3rd as stated in the other thread), the second state is generally more sought after - if you want, you can just get one of the identical $7.95 Callahan DJs from a slightly later printing and “make” a first edition third state. Another large part of the value being the actual misprint of course.
