Unlike The Folio Society's previous Signed Limited Stephen King release, The Shining, which was only available as a Prize contest give away (although a few additional copies were eventually made available through their website), The signed version of Misery was completely unannounced prior to the book going on sale. To add to the mayhem, the Website went live approx 20 minutes before the email and press release, resulting in all copies initially being sold to sharp eyed site watchers and then subsequently by word of mouth. All 100 available copies were sold in a matter of minutes across the US and UK websites.
