Yes, there were a number of them published, unsigned, but with the heavy-duty cover.

The issue was done in three states. The normal glossy cover, the matte finish cover unsigned and the matte finish signed.
This was the announcement in the APRIL 1991 issue:

The $15 one is the one with the heavy covers. I bought mine from them. The $8 one is the regular newsstand issue
