This website is very difficult to navigate but has a lot of good info.The Eyes of the Dragon (Philtrum no ISBN, Feb ’85 [Jan ’85], $120.00, 314pp, hc) Juvenile fantasy novel, in a signed, boxed, numbered edition of 1250 copies, with illustrations by Kenneth R. Linkhauser. A special giant-size (8.5" x 13," 4.5 lb) first edition on fine paper with linen slipcase and binding.
Does that info mean the magazine received it in January '85 and published it in their February '85 issue?
How exactly would you word the info to be put in the Catalog for the publication date?
Just change the Publication year from 1984 to 1985. You don't have to explain it. A lot of Limiteds (and regular books) are delayed in publishing at the ends of the year after they are printed. So, even though it says printed in 1984, because of the delay with the lotteries (I remember the lottery being in January) the book wasn't released until February. I'm sure King's friends got their copies at the usual Christmas time in place of The Plant for that year.
I think since the books itself states "1984", that some explanation should be noted. Example;
1984 (Public lottery conducted in January, 1985. Winners received book in February, 1985)
The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction NOV 1984 The EYES of the DRAGON Lottery.
