Comments for: Building the King Catalog

Great idea Aaron. I'm sure you know that you have created a big project for youself. Since there is a ton of King Signed Limiteds and 1st edition books, this is going to take a long time.
I was thinking that to help you and others it would be best if we had some sort of template for posts so that the catelog is accurate and helpful to casual fans as well as Collectors.
Perhaps when posting new images the following info should be included:

Title: The Colorado Kid

Comments: This is the traycased version illustrated by J.K. Potter. Three different artists( J/K/ Potter, Glenn Chadbourne and Edward Miller) were used to create different illustrations and editions. Unique in that three artists were used to create decidely different artistic interpretetions of the same story. The Traycased version avoided lettering (tough to letter more than 52 copies) to issue 33 books by three artists-total 99.

PERFECT!!

That is just what I am looking for, RF. The template is just right, too. And I do realize that it is a major project, and I want us to take our time on it and produce a bang-up product on the boards. Good show, man.

Comments: Stephen King's first Signed Limited book features a wraparound cover art by Michael Whelan. The "asbestos bound" Lettered state is considered to be the scarcest SK collectible. This being King's first limited edition, he was unaware of tradition and dated the limitation pages over a four day period starting July 5th.

State: Numbered 1/750 Issue Price $75
Comments: Book came wrapped in acetate cover (removed to eliminate glare when scanned). The sheets used for the limited edition were from the Viking print run. The lettered state of 26 copies was identical to the signed limited edition except that they bore letters not numbers on the limitation sheet. Limited edition pages (paper) were the same as the trade edition.

Title: Danse Macabre
Author: Stephen King
Artist: None. Interior photo of King by James Leonard
Publisher: Everest House
Publication Year: 1981
State: Numbered 1/250. No Dustjacket. Slicased and covered with glassine wrapper. Issue Price $65
Comments: There were 15 lettered copies: A to O. These copies in all other regards were identical to the numbered copies. This is a non-fiction work. King would not write another non-fiction book (On Writing) until October 2000. Limited edition pages (paper) were the same as the trade edition.

Special Note: The face and spine pic of this book are from noted collector Bob Jackson. His copy was in better shape than mine. The signature sheet and slipcase pictures are from my copy. Thanks Bob.

I have an out of series copy that lacks the limitation page but is otherwise identical to the limited.

Everyone-please feel free to comment, add corrections, post etc. My general thought was to try and post 5 or so King Limiteds a week, in the order they were published (disregarding my first post of TCK).
I'm not sure whether to post The Gunslinger next, wait till the end and do all 7, or post all now.
Thoughts?
Aaron and others, please chime in.

You could go ahead and do the Tower series and get it out of the way, I suppose. Whatever you'd like to do, really. Since I'm basically harvesting most of this before I put the page up, and everything will be categorized, the order that they are posted here will not affect it. I'm going to make it somewhat encyclopedic, and the entries will be alphabatized for easy reference, so we can add entries at will.
