"A real limited edition, far from being an expensive autograph stapled to a novel, is a treasure. And like all treasures do, it transforms the responsible owner into a caretaker, and being a caretaker of something as fragile and easily destroyed as ideas and images is not a bad thing but a good one...and so is the re-evaluation of what books are and what they do that necessarily follows." - Stephen King
I just checked and found a listing for 1/200 #64 and yours is numbered 56 of 400 and another listing states a print run of 800 copies...So it looks like there was indeed a series D 1/400.
SERIES A 75 $125
SERIES B 125 $75
SERIES C 200 $50
SERIES D 400
SERIES D PRICE UNKOWN I ASSUME SAME AS SERIES C $50
600 RED,125 BLACK & 75 SILVER COVERS.
Just ran across this.
Your collection of associated ephemera never ceases to amaze me Bruce! Thanks for the additional info - I will update the wiki article accordingly. 4 known variants! this is turning into a Colorado Kid!

I have several copies of this, and would love help understand the numbering. It makes absolutely no sense. I have #3- it's out of 125 total, and has black boards. I have #24- it's out of 75 total, and has silver boards. I have #76, #140, and #290- all out of 400, and they have red boards. Not only are there three different color boards, but the numbers don't match, at all. I would appreciate very much any help that anyone could give me. Thank you
Sorry...I didn't notice that new posts have been added since I was here last. So...did each color start over with the numbering?
Need a little help here:
I checked over my copy of this book I obtained several years ago to look at the number in the special count, and it is #179/400. I JUST NOW noticed a picture glued into the 1st page "black" after the front cover, and it looks like this...
Did this copy actually come from the Library of Stanley Wiater? Can someone verify this?
