Default Mount Rushmore of Movie Thread

Let's see how this goes. I'm not sure if anyone ever plays the Mount Rushmore game. Essentially, you have to make a list of the top 4 of a particular topic. For our purposes, it will be in regards to movies. It can be the Mount Rushmore of heist films, Tarantino films, Pacino films. You get the idea. I will start. Feel free to post your list or to start a new Mount Rushmore list going.

    Ok! I'll add a topic.

The Mount Rushmore of Kurosawa Films

    1. Ikiru
    2. Red Beard
    3. Drunken Angel
    4. Throne of Blood

"Oh! But you forgot..." and "how could you not have...?"

I know. Kurosawa is so good and prolific that there are easily 6-7 other films one could put up there. But this is MY list. So there.

Sometimes I feel like one of 5 people who have watched After Hours. It's the least appreciated masterpiece in film history.

I knew you were going to say that. I actually have been meaning to create this thread for a while, but our recent Scorsese conversation got me thinking about it, so I decided to start with him. So, I guess you get an assist.

Casino is just diet coke Goodfellas. By Scorsese's own admission, he made Goodfellas for the fans, and Casino for the executives.

Yeah, I get that, but it's still really good. James Woods is a just a complete slimeball in that film, which is kind of what he always is.

Sharon Stone is also really good.

Maybe, but I like it more than Hugo or The Aviator, which are the only other ones I've seen so far. While those were both good movies, I love me some good ol' mob movies.

I was about to post the same list, except I was debating on if to include Close encounters of the 3rd Kind, but didn't know which of the above I could remove.

I had the same internal debate re Close Encounters. Hard to leave off the list, but hard to replace any of those 4.

Oh, I'll have to remember to come back to Alfred Hitchcock. For "Amazon Prime day" I got a great deal on a 15 movie collection of Alfred Hitchcock. I have watched 7 so far (Saboteur, Shadow of a Doubt, Rope, Rear Window, The Problem with Harry, The Man Who Knew Too much, Vertigo). I have enjoyed them all so far. (the others left to watch are: Pyscho, The Birds, North by Northwest, Marnie, Torn Curtain, Topaz, Frenzy, Family Plot.)
