Someone offered me a book, and I want to know if you guys think it's a good buy.
1st ed. The Shining
Dust jacket in very good condition (slight rips of edge)
Owners nameplate on first page
Slight water damage marks on first page
What is it worth? He wants 60$.

Sounds fair.
It could be repaired quite easily.
YEA! Now you have a BASTARDIZED EDITION....That no true collector would want. This book is not that RARE (Expensive? Maybe. Rare? NO.)
I agree that it would not be worth the trouble to have restorative work on a book that would cost around $350 to get an F/F copy.
Hmmm, good point.

What do people see happening with CD's slipcased edition of Salems Lot, value wise? Carrie was easily found on the secondary market for less than issue price and I'm wondering if the same should be expected for Salems?
During one of CD's discount code sales, it was possible to buy the standard slipcased edition at a substantially discounted price (I cant remember if this was a mistake or not). I suspect a lot of the ones that hit the secondary market were bought then and resold for a small profit.
"A real limited edition, far from being an expensive autograph stapled to a novel, is a treasure. And like all treasures do, it transforms the responsible owner into a caretaker, and being a caretaker of something as fragile and easily destroyed as ideas and images is not a bad thing but a good one...and so is the re-evaluation of what books are and what they do that necessarily follows." - Stephen King
No expert on these matters by any means but I think it will probably sale for more than retail eventually. Not going to be another IT situation though. I possibly foresee The Shining and The Stand in the same neighbor as IT. I'll go out on a limb and say those sellout within 48 hours of announcement to the GP.

The Stand and IT always rank the top two in the TDT poll. 'Salem's Lot isn't far behind, but it isn't ahead of The Stand on this board. I also don't see the "IT factor" happening with any of these. IMHO, IT was produced at the right time. With the overwhelming amount of reprint special editions there are lots of choices. I am not implying that the productions aren't amazing, they are, but that I think many people have said "that's enough". Also, IT was the first reprint special edition (in US). 'Salem's Lot and The Stand have been done before.
One man's opinion.
Love 'Salem's Lot and The Shining, but The Stand is far and away my #1.
I think this will be the one CD Doubleday edition I might go for the lettered.

All great points, gentleman. Same here as far as The Stand, Siep. I probably won't be able to swing both the AE and lettered though .

I do really believe that the 3 books being discussed with be highly sought after artist editions over time

Don't misunderstand me, I ordered all of them! I'm just speculating about the future market. If I was any good at that then I might be a little richer than I am.
Hi Everyone, what would be your opinion on the value of this copy 102 of the 1100 edition of Six Stories, taking into consideration its flaws? It has light wear at the corners and has one lightly bumped corner. It comes with the aftermarket slipcase. I am possibly looking to sell after a replacement of a different edition arrives next week. Thanking you in advance.
Price check on LSOE artist edition, please

John if it helps at all mine has the same edge wear as yours but doesn't have the corner bump. (Also I cannot tell if there is a tear in the top right corner of yours or just a wear mark) I paid $550 for mine and then I had a case made for it by Jeff.
EDIT: The last one that sold on ebay was $695 with the slipcase and same edge wear minus the corner bump. $836 for the traycase and minor edge wear
