I'm guessing not many people have seen Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai....

For if they had, this film would surely be getting more votes!

I haven't tbh, but I'm aware that it has a very strong, dedicated following. Maybe I'll add it to my list of stuff to watch.

I'm not voting until I've seen each film nominated. I have two yet to watch from this group.

Are you going to be able to hold to that standard? How many of the 256 have you seen? Cause if you can do that that's amazing.

There's quite a few I haven't seen, so I can only do my best to watch as many as I can. And give it my best, I will.

I'm not going to be able to watch any 90's flicks I haven't seen right now. If this started in March or April, different story.

Thankfully I have seen most of them (my DVD/Bluray collection is over 1,000 titles) and whatever I have not hopefully is streaming out there somewhere. But even if people have seen all of these films, hopefully these polls spark some discussion and reminiscences and maybe some of these are due for a re-watch, just to immerse yourself in that '90s goodness

    Shit.

I could have sworn more people would have seen Chungking Express. Especially since the DVD came out years ago with Tarantino's name all over it.

    Such a beautiful film.

Conversely, I'm ashamed to admit that I haven't gotten around to watching Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai despite the fact that I have owned the DVD for a few years. I saw half of the film on TV years ago, but I've yet to watch the entire thing.

I'm surprised at how well The Devil's Advocate is doing. Was never a fan of that one, but I guess Al Pacino?

It's Pacino. I always thought it was an average film. It's funny, I believe 1997 gave us two films with similar names that featured A-List casts. Both films are fairly average. The Devil's Advocate and the Brad Pitt/Harrison Ford film The Devil's Own. I actually prefer The Devil's Own and I'm a little surprised it didn't even get nominated.

Tbh I have an affinity for dark, twisty-supernatural dramas. Stuff like Devil's Advocate, The Ninth Gate (did someone nominate this btw!?)

Also I have this memory of being a 10, 11 year old kid and seeing a VHS preview of the part where Al Pacino dips his finger into the holy water and it starts boiling. Love how stuff like that sticks with you.

    Yep; that's good stuff.

The Ninth Gate seemed to peter off toward the end, though; I loved it for a while, then...eh. But when it comes to the all too rare satanic film with Hollywood production values, I guess I'll take what I can get.

Yes and yes. Voted for it, too, because how could I not vote for a Pacino movie?

Ask not what bears can do for you, but what you can do for bears. (razz)

Not surprising at all; it is a defining film of the 90s and is arguably single handedly responsible for the rise in prominence of the Twist.
