absolutely. I was toying with the idea to write a review, to that effect, but the film isn't worth even that. The title is totally justified.
I can't see Shutter Island on your list (it is forgettable, but probably not to that extent)

Is this the one that is, for lack of better words, is the Blair Witch-esque Spanish film? My local theater is participating in a event called Night Terrors, where a new independent horror film is played each month, and Atrocious is one of them. Just wondering if it's the same.
Obviously, you weren't too fond of it, but were you at least entertained? I'm debating seeing it.
had I been entertained, I would have given it at least a 3: I watch horrors solely for entertainment, not to enrich my soul with a work of art.
The thing is, it is unwatchable. Yes, it is a Blair Witch-esque attempt, done without any glimmer of ingeniousness (mind you, I loved Blair Witch, and find it one of the most, if not the most, disturbing horrors I've ever seen). Thus, for more than an hour you see nothing but poorly done home video - not a similacrum of home video, cleverly directed by a talented hand, but just very poor quality home video. In fact, most of the time you don't see anything because the action takes place in the dark. The experience is truly atricious. I would have given it a 0 if not for the last five minutes that... well, don't make it all worthwhile (nothing will give me back that hour), but at least earn it this 1+ from bears. The only other thing that can be said in its favor is that it is mercifully short... if the editor cut it down to 15 minutes, it could have been something; now it's nothing.
And, of course, seeing it in the theater is entirely out of the question. Unless you want to have a quiet hour in the dark to meditate, and can't find another opportunity to do so without being distracted in any way.

Seriously, that does sound like one for me to avoid, less out of being too shit scared and more out of a fear of wasting my life. It sounds almost like the reverse experience I had watching Haute Tension: whilst I really enjoyed the first 80 minutes of the film, finding it a really tense slasher that had suspense and gore in just the right places, the ending had an incredibly badly done twist inserted into it that insulted my intelligence. It didn't exactly ruin the film for me, I just felt it was unnecessary. Or at least, could've been more logically and naturally done. Has bears seen it at all?

I am watching Haute Tension right now. Do I remember correctly that you don't watch a lot of horrors? I think it must account for your finding something in HT. I watch tons of them, and this one to me looks like another of those step-carefully-breathe-heavily films I am normally rather bored with. There's been some nice moments, for example I don't think I'd ever seen anyone
Spoiler:
decapitated with a cupboard
before, also the song the man is playing in the car (old French, by Didier Barbelivien, To all the girls I've loved before...) and the graffiti on the bathroom wall ("je suis vivant et vous etes mort" - I am alive and you're dead), but it kinda isn't enough; all the rest I've seen many times. Worse, I've read it, and I don't think they say anywhere in the credits that it is step by step a Dean Koontz novel. I am one hour in, and now expect this turn everyone curses - maybe it will entertain bears, since the whole movie so far has failed to.

Well, I don't watch a lot of horrors, but also I watched a rather boring slasher a couple of nights ago called Prom Night which was incredibly dissapointing, and I needed something with just a little bit more tension and gore. I thought it was better than a few horror films I've watched in recent years, but as you pointed out, I really don't watch that many horrors. (Having said that, I still heavily recommend Blink, a standalone Doctor Who ep I think you would enjoy. I've never been able to look at statues quite the same way again after that ep!)

have finished HT - yes, the twist is moronic, and I had known it ever since I learned there was a twist.
Actually, the only part of the movie that qualifies as "horror" is that other girl's teeth. How can a human being have so many, and so big?

Very, very good! And - if nothing happens again (KNOCK ON WOOD!!!), Life on Mars will be here for bears to watch by tomorrow morning. In English. Maybe even with English subtitles (I switch these on time to time when the dialect gets too thick)

Well, I would comment, but then again, I'm British, and I would feel too much like a pot calling a kettle to discuss colour schemes when talking about how bad someone else's teeth are.

I honestly don't blame you for one second, Jean. I think it does add something to the show, the Manchester setting. (Or "London", as Britney Spears once called it.) The setting, the characters and even the accent adds a bit of unique charm to it. Knocking on wood that you're able to watch more soon!
