Misread "getting" as "giving" - I was taught never to talk with my mouth full
I'm actually reading this series for the first time. I'm on book #3. It's pretty good so far. But the thing that always cracks me up is how much Jean Auel likes to use the term "furry mound". I mean come on. I'm surprised she didn't say "Jondalar stroked her whisker biscuit"
I know! The paelo-porn in that book is crazy.
I am Daenerys Stormborn and I will take what is mine. With fire and blood.
I think i only read the first three .. the 4th book is called "Plains of Passage" and it was too much for me

There was some weird shit going on in Plains of Passage. There's this crazy lady who keeps all the men in a pen like animals and stuff. It's good reading.
There's also a three page description of mammoths doing it. Yeah, I said "doing it".
A true firewasp ninja would never wear such a ridiculous sweater.
There's logic in nonsense.
Give me all the bacon and eggs you have.
hahaha .. i wonder what Auel would have done since the adjective "mammoth" couldnt be used in that part.

she did surely like that Furry Mound term
when i was all of 13 and reading this series (internet porn wasnt available then) the whole "mound" term was very confusing. I was like "wtf, its a hill???".

Thanks to dear Jean for un-archiving this thread for me.
As JB informed me earlier, March 29th, 2011 is the release date for the sixth and final book in the Earth's Children series. The most recent book was published in 2002, so I've been waiting forever for this book!
Who else is excited?
I am Daenerys Stormborn and I will take what is mine. With fire and blood.
I am, but are we sure it's the final? I always thought there would be 7.
I am excited for it as well, but I hope she cuts WAY back on the sex.
"So many vows. They make you swear and swear. Defend the King, obey the King, obey your father, protect the innocent, defend the weak. But what if your father despises the King? What if the King massacres the innocent? It's too much. No matter what you do, you're forsaking one vow or another."
I went and read an article on it after you told me the release date and it said that she managed to wrap it up in 6, not the 7 she originally intended.

oh ok. I guess she got tired of people telling her to finish the book. I hope it doesn't feel rushed.

I haven't read Shelters of Stone. I might read these again so I can read the new one in the spring.
People love frozen yogurt. I don't know what to tell you.
I was just thinking I needed to do a re-read as well in anticipation for the new book. I read the most recent one YEARS ago.
I am Daenerys Stormborn and I will take what is mine. With fire and blood.
I thought I'd fill my car with gas and let it idle in the driveway all Earth day as I reread the series.
All that's left of what we were is what we have become.
Wow - it's actually on the way? - Yes i'm definitely looking forward to it (sex aside it wasa great series).
Almost two years later, but I can say without equivocation that the last book was not worth the price of admission. Too much repetitive descriptions and then too many characters acting out of character. If I ever do a re-read of the series again, it will stop with Shelters of Stone.
