Human kind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's first law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one and only truth.
I'm never voting for a US President but I had to do it here Voted Obama/Biden.
I think you're right on that one.

Thanks for adjusting the Closing date - no worries on the time.

I'm voting. But I don't feel like discussing it, so I'm saying it's confidential.

Um, I just heard a rumor that Biden is going to drop out due to "health reasons" and Obama is going to select Hillary as a replacement running make.
Ah, the joys of American Politics. I doubt this is true, of course.
Likely, this could be the Clinton fans wishful thinking : Hillary 2008 - No Matter How!

It'll be a game of chess.
Obama gets Biden to pull a sickie & then picks Hillary.
In a countermove, McCain convinces Palin that east-coast life is not for her, and he pulls someone else outta the hat.
(or maybe (more likely) Palin, (in an even more brilliant counterstroke) convinces Mccain's old ticker to pack in early, moves herself to the top of the ticket and picks a running-mate).
We'll call it "Musical Presidents" !
God, if that shrew gets in the White House I'm moving to Canada.

Wow! Shrew?
Anyway, I'm never going to Canada, they tax the shit out of you up there.
Well, that's going to happen anyway.
And yeah, shrew was the nicest thing I could call her. I can't stand that woman.

Fair enough.
I've seen that rumor going around too, and although I doubt it's true it did make me wonder if that's even possible? Has it ever happened where the candidate switched their running mate after the nomination? Are there any legal considerations?
Yes, it's happened before - in the 50's I believe.
The reason I think it won't happen - in order for it not to look too desparate, Biden would have to leave politics completely, and I cannot see him doing that. It's one thing if the Veep job doesn't work out - it's completely another to give us his Senate seat and committee seats without a gaurantee.

I voted in the poll, but I suppose in the interest of my own strange and hard to explain political beliefs and opinions, I'm not going to discuss it outright--other than to say I am beginning to feel like I am voting for the lesser of two evils, instead of a candidate that really inspires me.
I feel like the GOP has really let the country down by practically shooing in McCain and not coming up with a few other viable candidates during the primaries, and that the Obama camp seems to be doing a lot of the things I initially respected him for saying he didn't intend to participate in (i.e. "playing ball" with partisanship and DC politics).
YOU MUST CHILL. I HAVE HIDDEN YOUR KEYS.
I don't like a god damned one of them...even those out of the race. The same old smear tactics and hypocritical accusations.
All that's left of what we were is what we have become.
Well, I don't think the debate did much for either candidate.
I look forward to the VEEP debate. That should be interesting.

Vote Damien Thorn for President "Why vote for a lesser evil?"

"So many vows. They make you swear and swear. Defend the King, obey the King, obey your father, protect the innocent, defend the weak. But what if your father despises the King? What if the King massacres the innocent? It's too much. No matter what you do, you're forsaking one vow or another."
I think some people would like it better than the obvious pandering to the female demographic by choosing Palin, though.
"Oh, alot of people are pissed off Obama beat Hillary, lets choose another white woman they can vote for instead! But let's make this one hot, and then the younger males will vote for me too!"

Quite possibly. Like I said, she's significantly more qualified. Personally, I don't like her one bit and I think she's been terrible as both NSA and Sec. of State, but she's still miles ahead of Palin.
On that note, it was interesting to have just spent the weekend with my parents, both of whom are lifelong republican voters. They both despise Palin (and aren't too fond of McCain either). Now, they would never vote for Obama (or any other democrat) but it was interesting to hear from staunch republicans how little they care for Palin. I believe the exact quote from my mom was "Palin is an embarrassment to women. She'll set women back fifty years."
Once they got started on her recent statements about Israel, they really showed their dislike for her. Ultimately Palin's opinions about Israel are completely in line with my parents' views, but they didn't appreciate the way she went about expressing it in such a clearly pandering manner.
My personal suspicion is that they simply won't vote at all this time around. They're not the kind of people to just pull the lever for their party just because it's their party.
