I am reading it now as well. I have seen the movie... some big differences but I am enjoying the book... How about you, Billy?

Book is really good, so far. I've already seen some major differences. Oh, this would be fun to discuss with you in real-time! Are you on yahoo right now?
I have not heard of this book or the author. But to be honest. I only read Stephen King. I don't really know why I don't read anyone else. I have read one book by Koonz that was really good and one by Grisham. But have not heard of this particular author.
There was a movie adaptation of this book a few years ago, mia... it was quite good and an interesting story concept.
Basically, the premise is that humans are no longer fertile and the human race is a generation away from extinction.

There are some BIG differences... but I'm only halfway through, so we'll see where it goes.

Odetta, sounds very intersting. I will have to get this book and read it.
The movie IMO is one of the best ive seen in the last 5 years.
P D James is a UK Senator - apparently alot of the differences relate to the way the book is slanted politically, more to do with UK's foreign policy and immigration laws etc. I really want to read it.

I read two short stories by P.D.James, one called The Girl Who Loved Graveyards, the other about Lizzie Borden and the tiger, I don't remember what it was called; both very good. Also a detective novel which didn't impress me much, although was written rather well, don't remember the title, either.

OK... I just finished the book yesterday and the last half of the book is dramatically different from the movie... makes me wonder why they did what they did in the movie!?!?!

There's interviews out there with Cuaren O, and im pretty sure he had his reasons as to why they changed certain things.

well, they didn't just change certain things... they change the whole story line for the last half of the story! It's a pretty radical difference...
I think the book is way better and I loved the movie as well.
