Psycho has a lot more going for it than just the shower scene. Anthony Perkins gives a top-notch performance for sure.
I watch this film every year when I teach it to my freshmen. A brilliant adaptation of the play with stunning performances by Sidney Poitier and Ruby Dee, but Claudia McNeil's Mama is breathtaking. There's also a very young Louis Gossett Jr. In 2010 there was a brilliant follow up called Cylbourne Park that takes place generations later - really funny and impactful.
