I have a copy. It has a very fine imperfection in the goatskin binding. Such imperfections are well know, and are part of the patina of the book. They are not significant flaws that would deem an item unacceptable.

I was intrigued today to hear of a collector questioning the condition of a Lettered Regulators copy that had been received and was deemed unacceptable. Apparently the tray case was showing some very fine marks in the grain of the tray case.
I am fortunate to own three copies of this particular book and have purchased four others on behalf of other members on this forum. None of the seven copies were without a slight mark of some description. Be it the tray case, the bullet wear marks internally or the rubber buffers slightly marking the leather, if of course the grain of the leather was not already showing natural marks of its own.
I fully appreciate that people new to the world of King collecting are on a learning curve as I soon found out (at suitable expense) myself. However it would seem prudent that when purchasing a book for the first time, especially one of this price bracket, that a little assistance is not secured from the collectors here, of what to expect with each book. To embark on securing a copy not often seen, without doing a little homework from members happy to help, would appear foolhardy in the extreme.

Hi Alec, if its the one I think it is, I saw the unboxing video. He believed there were small cracks on the underside, but I take it they were blemishes?

For an older book I would expect such things, but I would have them all clarified and happy before sale complete, especially with a prestigious book as this. Sets expectations.

I'm not privy to the sale so this may or may not have happened.

What does a Lettered Regulators go for? (yes a grail for me)

But as to being a newbie...I would say I am not totally but I am the newer side of things. I guess I thought I knew stuff until here....

That being said... I would think if you are purchasing that book, plus others, that pictures are traded and I would look for things that would bother me. Since I buy the book to be in its forever home...I am probably not as picky as others.
