It would be cool to do some mini tournaments that don't require any nominations. Best performance by a prolific actor, best film by a prolific director, best Best Picture/Actor/ Actress/ Director winner etc.
We could even change it up and vote for the worst of stuff too.

We should a Best So Bad Its Good movie tournament
First, thanks for the kind words, Bill!
I'm all down for mini tournaments, as a participant, but I do want us to make it through the ongoing tournament. It will be 40% done after this month when we finish the 2010s decade. We'll be at the halfway point in the summer. I hope I can keep this pace for another two years and we'll get this done, I promise! Then I can relax and never think about polls again! Maybe... Probably not.
But yes, tournaments where no nominations are needed (like best movie by a director, actor, etc.), best animated Disney film, what have you, should be pretty simple. I just don't think we'd be able to squeeze one in between, say, the end of the 2010s tournament and when we need to start nominations for the 1970s in January, which is our next decade.
Oh, I'd be down for a So Bad It's Good tournament, Fernando!

Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo.
I'd also nominate Strange Brew, except there's nothing bad about it: it's pure, classic gold.
Alright, we'll call it a draw.
I like the idea of mini-tournaments for individual actors. I've been trying to compile my own lists of favorite films by individual actors.

I have been thinking of one tournament, but it doesn't belong in this section of tdt cause its not movie related, but could be fun, and doesn't require any nominations.
Best SK book cover.
1st round would be US vs UK cover versions. We could skip any book that doesn't have a UK version, or if the two are virtually the same (like The Talisman). In the 2nd round the winners of 1st round and any book that wasn't included in 1st round would go head to head.
Was thinking that we could use http://www.thedarktower.org/?page=imagelimit2 as a starting point. Depending on how you count (and I did it properly), there would be 99 candidates (or 104 if you consider all 6 chapters of the green mile). We could eliminate some of these that are not worthy like the omnibus, "My Pretty Pony", "Secret Window" etc, and get it down to 64.
I would be down for a 007 tournament too (maybe need to wait until we can all see No Time to Die)

I definitely did not enjoy Solaris (can't remember which version I saw, though. I think Clooney).

It wasn't that is was a "bad" movie...it was just soooo dull!
Maybe Ambien can sponsor this tournament!
All that's left of what we were is what we have become.
The American remake of Solaris with Clooney was just a vehicle for him to look handsome while doing science fiction. Tarkovsky's original film is vastly superior.
An idea I had on my drive into work this morning.
Best movie sequel. I think it would be interesting because I believe that most of the movies in the tournaments thus far have been originals or at least the first in a franchise. Sequels opens up a whole different group.
Hearts are tough, she said, most times hearts don't break, and I'm sure that's right . . . but what about then? What about who we were then? What about hearts in Atlantis?
WOULD LOVE a "best scene" one. I mean.. it would have to be a larger one as many movies have multiple scenes!!!
