I wanted to put it higher but what can ya do?
1 - Jaws
2 - Pulp Fiction
3 - The Planet of the Apes
4 - Wings of Desire
6 - Godfather I & II (can't separate them)
7 - Modern Times
8 - Unforgiven
9 - The Poseidon Adventure
10-Grease
1. Nosferatu
2. Flight of Dragons
3. Conan The Barbarian
4. Suspiria
For whatever reason these 4 movies bring me inexplicable joy. I started making a longer list, and I realized I had no idea how I would rank them. I kept shuffling them around and adding more until it seemed the list would go for ever and never make sense. So I deleted the whole thing and left the top 4.
1. Citizen Kane
2. Rebecca
3. Rebel Without a Cause
4. The Shining
5. Kill Bill
6. Cabinet of Dr. Caligari
7. Strangers on a Train
8. Halloween
It gets hard after here. I have a bunch more but not sure how to rank them. Plus a lot of favorites that might not necessarily be the greatest films of all time but I sure do love them.

I'm never sure what to do with a list like this, if it wants my favourite films, or the films I think are the best. There are some films that bloody excellent like The Godfather 1/2 which I wouldn't consider a favourite like I would Punch Drunk Love, but Godfather is a much better film. This kind of deliberation is why these sorts of lists are so hard for me to do. My Best Films of All Time and Favourite Films of All Time would have few intersections.

Everybody wants to talk more about their favorite films of all-time and not about their favorite films of the decade.

True, I've been meaning to go back and look at what films have been released and then compile a list from there. I have a hard time remembering the year a particular film was released. And if I did it off the top of my head I'd probably be including films from the late 90s

bears are back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh wow, my all-time list that was the start of this thread certainly needs revisiting, but I imagine my opinion that Barry Lyndon is the best film of all time still hasn't changed.
Tough, really? I thought he was perfectly cast. I need to watch it again, I think it's streaming on the Criterion Channel.
Don't think I could rank them, but here are my Fav's in no particular order:
Back to the Future
Stand By Me
Fellowship of the Ring
Jaws
American Werewolf in London
The Thing (Carpenters version)
Unforgiven
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Star Wars: A new hope
Goldfinger
Wanted:
'Salem's Lot Portfolio #606
Fairy Tale UK S/L
Quality list. Nothing out of line there.

What a cool, fun list. Refreshing to see a list free of pretentious choices. Mine certainly would ooze with pretentiousness. Ha!
Good old fashion storytelling on that list. Bravo.
Is The Thing quite simply the GREATEST horror film ever made? Hmm?
