Blaine and Tull
In Song of Susannah King himself claims that the town Tull was named after the rockband Jethro Tull. I wonder if they gave him the inspiration for Blaine the mono as well...
Blaine is also known as Charlie, and is basically a train gone out of control. When I first read The Waste Lands I immidiatly thought of a song by Jethro Tull called "Locomotive Breath" from -72
Here´s the first verse of the song:
"In the shuffling madness
Of the locomotive breath,
Runs the all-time loser,
Headlong to his death.
He feels the piston scraping
Steam breaking on his brow
Old Charlie stole the handle and
