    In no order:

Fall Be Kind EP - Animal Collective
There Is No Enemy - Built To Spill
    Embryonic - Flaming Lips
Yakuza Heart Attack II - Yakuza Heart Attack

St. Vincent's "Actor" was quite good, as was the new Sunn O))). Japandroids released an enjoyable disc, and Squarepusher showcased his bass virtuosity. And Dan Deacon's "Bromst" proved that he is a serious composer.

fwtl, that may be the worst list I've ever seen. Green Day? Muse? Eminem's last album? Please tell me this is a joke.
Seymour, I gotta tell you, The Pains of Being Boring as Fuck have got to be excised from yr vocabulary slowly.

2009 has been a rare year for me in that there has been a large amount of popular/mainstream music that has come out which I have enjoyed and no amount of indy-hipster nattering is gonna change that

now technically my favorite album that I have gotten this year is Titus Andronicus' debut: The Airing Of Grievances but that album came out in 2008 so it's not on my list

    Doood: Relapse?

And Fruno: I enjoy the Pains of Being Boring as Fuck. And I barely have any albums from this year at all.

"Indy-hipster nattering" [sic]. Well, as an avowed hipster hater, Pitchfork debunker, and master of actual sarcasm, them's fighting words.

    Oh crap!

I was really bad about keeping up with new music in 2009. I hope I catch up in 2010, there are things on these lists I would like to hear.

    Not in order:
Bill Callahan - Sometimes I Wish We Were An Eagle
One of my favorite lyricists and singing voices of all time. Hated his previous album, loved this one and almost anything he does.
    The Flaming Lips - Embryonic
Fruno has already expounded on why this is great.
    Jogger - This Great Pressure
I've only had this for a little while but I've been liking it a lot. My honorary band on the list that did not exist in the '90s.
Squarepusher - Solo Electric Bass 1
I honestly didn't think Squarepusher would be able to captivate my attention just playing bass. He is a crazy bass magician.

That's all I've got right now.

Albums I expected to be on this list, that took a crappy turn from previous releases:
    Air - Love 2
Black Moth Super Rainbow - Eating Us

If you're gonna' listen to Joy Division isn't sulking mandatory?

I'm gonna' have to think on this a bit. I'm not sure I've heard ten albums this year that are worthy of top ten status and I'd hate to add stuff that sucks just to make it ten.

Ahh I have been meaning to check out Dan auerbach's album the Black Keys are immense I saw them in Manchester a few months a ago and they were really good! I take it his solo albumn is quality since it's made your top ten.

I have heard they are doing some kind of rap album which I would be interested in hearing!

if you're already familiar with him from his work with the bk's, this one should come naturally to you.

for the most part, it's more subdued than the keys, but it's also very much rooted in the blues.

i found it an interesting look at his evolution as a songwriter.

also, it's an entire album with auerbach's amazing voice, which i find to be one of the most authentic in music right now.

sj totally sums it up in a perfect manner again. Plus, you can go to Paste, Spin, P4K, Stereogum, NME, and about a dozen other places for opinions on the best of the decade.
