BROWNING'S: you're always more than welcome. I love your poems.

Brice: yes, but bears wished they had noticed themselves what they said! ::laughing bear here - photobucket on maintenance::

BROWNING'S, I did read the entire thread, and what can I say - you've just got a new fan!
"Solitude" is probably the favorite of mine.

And Jean - you are right about tongue-friendliness. I have actually just read The Vigil aloud to someone who does not even speak English, and they enjoyed it.
So BC is definitely getting recognition, geography-wise!

I have always love horror poetry! The Vigil was right down my alley.

B.C. as to writing The Vigil; was it difficult or did it flow from you like water?

Rain: You are too kind. I'm glad you enjoyed them.
Jon: I like horror poetry too. This one took about 15 minutes once I had decided on my interpretation of the picture.

Yes. I don't often write horror poetry but when I do it flows like a flash flood and I struggle to keep it restrained so that it can be somewhat artful.

Here is a recent song, also written for, and about, my friend who was killed last year.

    Go Slow

    You got it goin' on,
So what else do you want?
    Live a little faster.
Leave your lover in your laughter,
Cause the music is your master.
Need more? You gotta have it all.

    You wanna be the one,
    That every one wants,
To be like, in love and life,
And leave it layin' all about.
Wealth and fame, and name in lights,
To get it, you'll give it all.

    But, the candles burnin' now,
And its burnin' at both ends.

You stay up till the dawn,
    And write another song.
So hit the bong, and sing along,
Right or wrong, the day is gone.
Pile it up and burn it,
These things you have collected now.

    Don't wanna be a pawn,
    For queens to beat upon.
So love 'em quick and leave 'em.
    Never keep 'em, always dreamin'
That there's somethin' round the corner,
That beats the one you had before.

    You got it goin' on,
    You've had it all along.
But leave it, you don't need it.
Never keep it, you can beat it.
Roll the dice again, you'll see that,
Next time your gonna have it all.

    Your flame is burnin' bright,
But your life, it fuels the light.
    Your candle's burnin' down,
And its burnin' at both ends.

    Oh.
    Go...You love or leave it,
    So, the day before,
You know, you gotta beat it.

    Oh.
    No...You don't believe it.
    Know you got it all,
If only you could see it.

    Oh.
    Go.
    Slow.

    Another year is gone,
    And time keeps movin' on.
    Wasted days of dreamin.
Told you, but you don't believe 'em.
Now it seems that you are leavin',
With cards that could have one it all.

    The shadow's growin' long.
And soon it will be gone.
    Action set in motion,
    Animation of the notion,
That you lived with such emotion,
That you only had left to fall.

    You had it goin on,
But now your days are gone.
You left em' in your wake,
So now your broken dreams we rake,
Into your grave so you can take,
'Em with you, and now you have it all.

    Your flame it burned bright,
But your life it fueled the light.
    Your candle's burned out.
'Cause you burned it at both ends.

    Oh.
No. You had to beat it.
    Oh, the day before,
You know you couldnt meet it.
    Oh.
    No. You don't believe it.
Know you had it all, but still
    You couldn't see it.

    Oh.
    Go.
    Slow.

BROWNINGS, I'm sorry for your loss.
You wrote a beautiful and sad song. It made me think of my classmate who died a horrible death at a very young age.
"...Roll the dice again, you'll see that,
Next time your gonna have it all..."

    So true.

    Thanks Rain,
I am starting to come to terms with it, it has been hard, and I still miss him alot. Especially when I listen to music we used to play together. Writing these songs has helped me to cope with it.

So that the song makes a little more sense, thought I'd give some of the details.

About a year before Josh died, he got busted cheating on his wife and she left him. He was on a path of self destruction from that point.
    Lost in the music.
    Drifting from girl to girl
    Drinking/Drugging too much.
Driving his motorcycle waaaaay to fast, without a helmet.

I actually had a long heart to heart with him (during a drunk dial - on my part) two days before he wrecked his bike, that I was begging him to wear a helment and not ride the bike after drinking. I told him I didnt want to get the 3 AM phone call telling me he was killed on his bike.....leaving his 2 yr daughter behind. He promised and promised....and I got the call two days later....at 1 AM.

    A God Among Men

For he is a jolly good fellow,
Least thats what he'd have you believe.
A facade of a smile, and a "Hello",
With maniacal hate up his sleeve.

He's tidy and neat in appearance,
Yet inside, he boils with rage.
    A master of more adherence,
The beast he keeps in his cage.

    A spurious imposture by day,
Until he returns to his den.
At work, by the rules he will play,
But at home, he's a God among men.

    He quietly tallies his victims.
He dreams of his glorious day.
No jury will ever convict him,
As he'll die soon after his prey.

And after his bloodthirst is slaked,
    Confused and bewildered they'll be.
    A life of camaraderie faked,
For a jolly good fellow was he.

Note: more in this poem is mor-aye (as in social standard)

Found this old poem today on poetry.com. Forgot ever submitting it probably nearly 10 years ago. Guess they never throw anything away haha

    Nothing to Fear

    Afraid of my touch?
    Look into my eyes.
    What do you see?
    Do you realize?
    Afraid of my words?
    Of what they might say?
    Afraid of the heartache
    When the words fade away?
    Afraid I will hurt you?
    Afraid it won't last?
    Afraid of my love?
    Afraid of your past?
    Yesterday's anguish
    Grief and regret
    Forshadow today
With the pain you might get.
But the love that I offer
    Is truly sincere.
    So just take my hand.
    You've nothing to fear!

I was young and thought I was in love....hahaha....took me awhile to discover that one-way love don't work. I know the poem is juvenile, I just was kinda shocked to find it on Poetry.com. Not really sure how it got there.

Since the book has now been published and is available to everyone, I figured it wouldnt hurt to post this poem here now.

    Mr. Scratch's Murder Circus

Now step right up, with souls in hand
    Young wicked boys and ghouls.
Inside you'll feast your eyes upon
    All Nature's broken rules.

    The calliope shrieks and blows
    Its grim cacophony.
    The screaming from inside provides
    discordant harmony.

The vicious and the wretched wait.
    Deformities abound.
Within my tent, all manner of
The cursed and damned are found.

    Contemptible malicious imps
    Fed naught but witches' gore.
    Unholy spawn exuded by
    The Devil's favorite whore.

    Your senses saturated with
    the seven deadly sins.
Just trade your souls, a paltry sum,
    And everybody wins.

Now take my hand, I know the way.
    Don't straggle far behind.
For if you should get lost in here,
Your apt to lose your mind.

See here, the rack, and brazen bull,
    Mere toys for idle hands.
    The iron maiden's cold embrace,
More fun than one can stand.

But dawdle not, my little lambs,
    And hasten close to me.
For though we'll have our time to play,
There's more for us to see.

You'll view the child born inside out,
    The shocking rotting man.
The Cannibal might give some chase,
He'll eat you if he can.

    Self mutilating masochists,
Each wears a crown of thorns.
A woman who has borne a snake,
    A man that's growing horns.

A gruesome fright round every turn,
And since your souls are vexed,
You'll stay forever here with me,
And YOU will be the next!
