    Default Amazing Female Artists

I know this is the second thread in like 10 minutes that I started here but I want some suggestions for stuff to listen to. Also, maybe I can give you suggestions too.

    Who I like:
    Bjork
    Tori Amos
    Sinead O'Connor
    Jack Off Jill/Scarling
    Kidney Thieves
    Evanescence
    Loreena McKennitt
    Portishead
    Rasputina
    Tegan and Sara

That's not in any particular order.

So, tell me about good female artists/bands and let's discuss them!

Alisha and Brice hit several of mine (Polly Jean, Fiona and Regina are all great artists).

    Here are a few others...

    Neko Case
    Jolie Holland
    Sharon Jones

and of course, the one and only Etta James (my favorite female singer of all time)

Oh and big time props to Ruthful for Iris Dement! Glad to know I'm not the only one who knows who she is.

Tori Amos. Sorry I know she's already been listed, but she's really the only female artist that I would list amongst my favorites.

Yay! What's your favorite CD by her? Mine is Boys for Pele.

Also this thread is to partially ramble on about how awesome some of these artists are.

Thanks for listing off your favorites, a lot of these ladies I've never heard of so I'll be looking into it!

    Cinephile.
All the others I like have already been gushed over.

Cinephile has a very "Portishead - Dummy" feel to them.

Elodin: "Tombs is for feckless twits who can't chew their own food. My boy's a Re'lar! He has the feck of twenty men!"

Kvothe: “Books are a poor substitute for female companionship, but they are easier to find.”

Simmon: ”It’s just ointment in case you get burned...but if you mix it with piss, it turns into candy.” Sim’s expression was deadpan. “Delicious candy.”

Good one Ryan. How the hell did I forget her? She and Plant are planning a second album together.

I hope T. Bone Burnett is smart enough to bring back Marc Ribot on guitar and banjo like he did on the first one.

Now that makes me happy to hear (and it will make Amanda smile when she reads this too). Etta is my favorite singer of all time other than Otis Redding (and they've done several of the same songs!). She can make anything sound good. I recently learned how to play "I'd Rather Go Blind" and couldn't stop smiling about it.

Etta James is completely amazing, I have to agree.
She's one of the most talented female artists I've ever had the pleasure of listening to.

My wife has been counting the days for months now. She's as obsessed with Tori as I am with Tom Waits. That's how I first started listening to Tori.

I would think she'd tour again, which always makes me wonder if Matt Chamberlain will be her drummer again. I'd go just to hear him play. He's on so many great albums (especially the one he did with Frisell)
