There is a process. Previously, the bookcases on the right (lower 4 shelves) of the picture held my trade1st editions in alphabetical order, aside from the DT series leading off. When a new noverl came out, shifting was required. Contemplating, but, unlikely, organizing them by publication date, that way stuff is added at the end.

Either way, the book collector rule/axiom is that empty shelves are soon filled.

I do mine by Genre ( since I have a lot more than just King) then alphabetical by author in order of publication. SO in Horror it would be Cronin, Herbert, Hill, King (Carrie through Gwendy). Still requires shifting with an Author comes out with a new book but I have gotten into the habit of padding books now so that there is room at the end of the big authors.

Jerome, good to see your book room progressing. The new hardwood floor and paint job look great.

Also, happy to hear you are recovering so nicely from the kamakazi drone attack!

(Chad, if you had texted me that night, I would have said it must be an April Fool's joke. It's totally the over the top kind of thing Jerome would try.)

My employer has been dealing with alot of market changes over the past several months. As a consequence, I find out later today if I am laid off effective July or December. Because of my job duties, I'm thinking I'll be out of a job in July.

Either way, today is going to suck.

Regardless of how well the "economy" is doing, Wall street etc. are soaring to new heights, but the treatment of individual employees is pretty heartless.

Thanks for the kind words, guys. Found out that my last day is mid-July. Ugh. I've seen this day coming for months, but today was a punch in the gut. I work in the healthcare industry, and Obamacare has been a huge money drain on our business. As a result, we can't afford to keep as many employees. Overall, I think management is handling things well, since they could have just told laid everyone off immediately.

Compare this to my former employer, who had a huge layoff a few years ago, and just let go a few hundred more a couple weeks ago. In order to get their severance, they have to train the offshore consultants taking their jobs. 60 Minutes just had a story about companies doing this. I had to do the same thing when I left, and it was humilitating to say the least.

Luckily, I've already been talking to recruiters, so hopefully something comes along soon. I really don't want to be my kids full-time nanny this summer!!
