    "Minions" have the "Con"!!!!!
The Houston Astros cheated Major League Baseball from 2017-18!!!!

They cheated their way to a couple of League Championships & a World Series!!!!

Is that how we teach our kids to play the game now?????

Got talked into entering this by a guy I work out with. 26.2 mile march through the desert with a 35 lb. pack on your back. Never done anything approaching marathon distance before. Not sure if this 63 y/o body will hold up. Should be fun though.

I'm familiar with this one Bob, though I haven't done it ... it's no joke. The sand and weight of the packs are what usually do people in; you need to be ready or you can really hurt yourself. It is not like going for a long walk or jogging or running a half-marathon. Bring lip balm, good eye protection (wrap-rounds if you've got them, to keep out sand), and wear your absolute best hiking boots ... you don't want sneakers, they'll get filled with sand. Your pack should be one you've worn many times and which is absolutely adjusted right for you with the weight; if not you won't make it 2 miles. It's like carrying a four year old that's hanging off your shoulders instead of sitting on them. Well, either way ... imaging carrying a four year old on your shoulders for 26 miles!

Hopefully you'll get a good day, not too hot and not too windy.

Good luck, but prepare. If you haven't already started walking 20 miles a day a couple of days a week, start now ... not a lot of time to get ready.

Thanks, George. We are not taking it lightly. But I have not talked to anyone who has actually done this event. The guys I work out with travel around to the Tough Mudder and Spartan events and, supposedly, this one is just as hard or harder. I've resisted going to those other events because I really don't want to get covered in mud and run the risk of electric shocks, etc. Plus I am about 15 years older than those guys. But this one seems much more suited for me. We are all in pretty good shape and still have five weeks or so for training specific to the event. I appreciate your advice.

My boss does a "trail" 2 or 3 times a year. It's basically a very long "run/walk" of 90 or 120km during 24h non stop or more.
Personally, i prefer going to work on a bike, on a daily basis. 1h30 of cycling, everyday.
I prefer cycling everyday during 1h30

There are also ultra marathons that last two days. They're basically trail 200 km runs through forests and nature preserves and you have two days to complete them. You can't just walk them, you need to run them (for the most part) to finish because there is a cut-off time. I can't imagine what kind of shape you have to be in to do one of these.

I'm training for a marathon and man, running 5 times a week is gruelling. The plan I've been following since last Fall calls for "tempo runs" until race day. TR is basically the race tempo. I hate it. It sucks. I don't know why I'm doing it other than I want to do it. I'm done with "easy runs", fartlek, hill training, speed work. Now it's just TR and long runs on Sundays, as well as strength training twice a week. I'm aiming for a sub-two hour half marathon and 4:15 marathon time.

I want to compete in an IronMan in 2016. It'd be nice to take the family to Hawaii for a vacation and do the competition there. Still, a 2k open water swim, 200 km bike ride and then a full marathon and all that in under 17 hours.
