speaking of cold turkey, the first part is true the rest i don't know if it is true or not

a friend of mine went forcibly cold turkey after a fit of of D&D (drink and drugs) rage after a few weeks of hellish torture he shoved his housemate onto the floor and climb unto his chest and started rocking back and forth saying 'have you been to the dark place? i sent my cat there because it was bad' the weird thing is they have never owned a cat

Just cancelled a couple of orders of CD, felt bad but just lost the enthusiasm for the ones I'd placed. Works out $200 in my pocket for another days shopping.

Orders from between 1 & 2 years ago. And that's not a complaint, just in a diff place this month. I feel bad as what tipped me into cancelling was seeing a review of Brian's limited and it had a coupled great pics in it but also Chadbourne's trees and moons! No more rats, but trees and moons.

The reviewer also said there were reprints of stories, and looked and have them already in 7 stories so don't feel the need to add $100 of shipping on books that I'm not that fussed about.

I look forward to buying more off them in the future (so long as not pissed them off royally with this post), but may save my grab bag order for another time.

I random posted as don't feel I want to post overly negative comments in the cd thread, because think they are pretty damned good overall.

I'm not being impatient either, as would wait for CD as they are, and cannot emphasis enough, a quality outfit, just these two orders are not what I want now.

Hope they understand.

Congratulations! Two months is a long time. Hang in there. I quit about 31 years ago and still consider it to the one of the best things I ever did for myself and family.

On one of the committees I serve on there is a retired psychiatrist whom I like very much. I have served with him on a county medical society committee for about 10 years and, last night, found out something fascinating about him. He was the forensic psychiatrist who evaluated Perry Smith and Dick Hickok (the murderers in In Cold Blood). He was just out of his residency and working at the Kansas State Hospital for the Criminally Insane. I have many more questions to ask him but last night he told me lots of stuff about Truman Capote and Harper Lee. He was one of the twenty or so witnesses to the executions and sat by Capote during them.

A while back i applied to a great position that matches my profile, at a great company, in canada. Never got any feedbacks... so i called.
I first managed to quickly speak with the manager who told me to send him an email (which he gave me). Never got any feedback, neither a confirmation that it was recieved properly although i have no doubt it did.

I managed to get someone on the phone (not within the HR team, but somehow she had access to information), who was able to give some information :
- my CV had been recieved and is in their files
- i probably didnt get any reply, because for this position they are recruiting within canada. International recruitment requires a special authorization (i guess that it cost a lot, and involves a lot of paperwork for visas etc), and that SO FAR, this position is "local".
I kind of got the feeling during our conversation, that the position wasnt "well paid", otherwise i am confident that they wouldnt mind having an international application that matches perfectly the requirements / job description, and someone that would be perfect for this position.

I admit that i am a bit disappointed, but i guess that i should have seen this coming...
I may sort of look what happens. If the offer is still on their website at the end of september, i may send a reminder/ 'hey, i am here, remember my great CV' email... without expecting anything.
Quite gutted as i would have been willing to go meet them for an interview like.... next week, shall they had been interested. A bit expensive for an interview, but, an investment...
