That makes sense. But it's still really fucking lame!
We have a five person household and are having trouble just getting the regular toilet paper that we need.
In addition, my wife is a geriatric nurse specialist who works exclusively with older adults in both the nursing home and assisted living settings and we cannot find hand sanitizer or Lysol spray anywhere. We're running really low on what we regularly have in the house, and she can't borrow any from work because, as you would expect, there is a huge institutional demand for these products as well and they have absolutely none to spare. So huge raspberries and a hearty "fuck you" from the residents of my household to anyone that bought 100 rolls of toilet paper and 5 cans of Lysol for a two-person non-medical-personnel household. It is absolutely imperative that we not introduce COVID-19 into our household as it will, for a near certainty, result in added deaths in my wife's patient population. There are many other households like ours that can't get the supplies we need due to hoarding and the result will be worse outcomes overall for both us and you.
Also, please everybody, stay inside as much as you can. I'm sure everyone has heard this to death but you can carry and pass on COVID-19 for up to two weeks without feeling any symptoms. That is a huge driver in this epidemic. People who are out interacting with others as though this is "no big deal" are absolutely one of the reasons that our case and death toll is going to continue to mount for weeks and months despite the drastic measures that many communities have put in place. Choosing not to participate in social distancing efforts is a selfish and amoral choice that, in the aggregate, will directly cause more people to die than otherwise would.
This is making me upset. I need to go do a long post about books somewhere here.
You are the only one that has admitted that in this particular thread, but this wasn't meant as a specific call out to you - there are a lot of people on the sidelines just doing their thing because they haven't had the unfortunate circumstance to be personally affected by this epidemic yet. And taking steps now is how we keep many, many more people from being affected! (Although honestly it's a bit too late for that - our monumental government fuck-ups have ensured that we are going to have a slippery uphill climb followed by significant and lasting economic damage.)
Why don't you just stay inside and curl up with a nice copy of Brother? Or I have some extra Barker paperbacks I can send you
Is Someone here collect children books?
I have few dr. Seuss HC first editions and can’t find price guide or group that discuss these kind of books
Seems like life always presents a person drama.
My water heater isn't producing hot water (yes pilot light is lit). It's likely the thermocouple, thermostat or the gas rail. I'll know in about 90 minutes.
Walk your dog and look for clean leaves to use when you run out of toilet paper. The bending down to pick them up is good for your abs and it is fun to do!
I'm sure if there is intelligent life somewhere out there in the universe, they are wise enough to stay away from us.
And the people bowed and prayed, to the cell phone god they made...
Not sure that amount of punishment fits the crime. Completely agree about the economic damage. A lot of people, who never get sick, will be feeling that for years to come.
I was at Lowes yesterday and the girl who checked me out said a lady tried to steal her can of disinfectant right off the register. Employees since had been advised to keep such products out of each of customers.

Trump viciously attacks NBC News reporter in extended rant after being asked for message to Americans worried about coronavirus

And that calls itself a president...

It's embarrassing to me. At a time when civility and decorum are really needed, we get Trump going off on a tirade.
What a shame, that was a softball question. Trump could have used that question to make a memorable passionate speech like Roosevelt after Pearl Harbor, and Kennedy asking what you can do for country, or even Bill Pullman in independence day, instead he shows he is a cowardly bully who doesn't know what to do.

It was embarrassing - the “reporter.” Not to mention any question beginning “what do you have to say” at a freakin’ press conference (where plenty is already being said, if the point is lost on all of you) is excruciatingly senseless to begin with.
But you guys can continue to stick with “orange man bad.”
Eastasia has always taught college students to feel pride or shame according to their race.
For the record he was questioning trump about trump giving false hope in regards to the potential treatments. Trump is saying he hopes the drugs work and that he believes (and not in the literal sense) they will. He isn’t a good reporter. A good one sticks to the facts, they don’t twist words.
It doesn't surprise me one bit. But well...he's still getting voted, right?
On brighter news, today I was confirmed at two companies. The ironic issue is that I'll have to wait until the Coronavirus quarantine is over since there are no soccer games at this stage and I won't be able to analyze anything.

Agreed the reporter could have phrased his questions better, I just expect our President to respond in a dignified manner. A sharp POTUS skewers the person in a tactful response that gets the point across without making the whole thing seem like a junior high school debate.
This, exactly.
Unfortunately, over the past few weeks it's become clear that Trump is in way over his head. At a time when we need a President to show strength and leadership, he either comes across as pathetically insecure or utterly lost. He's clearly never actually been responsible for anything.
