Yes 1/3 of the US population is considered high risk. Had not the CDC came out and stated, with learning more about the virus, that their current predictions of mortality rate in the US was now .4% and not the alleged 2% it initially was reported which would have been roughly 6.6 million people? Sure that may or may not change based on science as at one point it was stated to drop from 2% to 1.3%. In 1969 H3N2 killed over 1 million people worldwide and over 100,000 people in the US. The country did not shutdown and Woodstock was held. Sure it is sad people are dying, but people die every day from war, sickness, accidents, murder, etc.

Lurker, you misunderstand completely; I wasn't attacking, I was defending ... can you not see and understand that in your post?

My entire point (the avatar, politics, god, BOMC) is that anyone can pick absolutely any subject, decide that's what they're offended by, and use that as their platform to attack others. Come in guns blazing, yelling, blaming, calling them "sicko", saying they should be ashamed ... that's exactly what you did to RF. Why did RF assume he was the sicko? Because the "DT Net: Innuendo, Gossip, Dirt, Remembrances, and Flaming" thread (AKA Bouncing Boobies thread) was started by him ( all you have to do is look at the title to see when it was started and by whom) and he is a contributor to it. If you're honestly confounded by why he feels you were attacking him, just read his response; it's because you were attacking him.

The "hate & control" part is what someone does when they take a personal opinion or belief and try to force it upon others; that is an attempt to control thought, belief and in this case content. The avatar line I wrote, which I thought was obviously satirical, is an example of what someone COULD do if they so desire. Literally anyone could decide what they think your avatar actually stands for, demean you, yell, call you names, and demand you remove it; what would you say to that? Would you remove it? As far as they're concerned, they're 100% right and you are a sicko scum for ever even thinking an avatar like that is acceptable. Meanwhile you'd *probably* think, "who the hell is this and what the hell are they talking about, it's just Halo, it's got nothing to do with school shootings, what an asshole." And then when you defend what you think and believe, because obviously you're right and they're wrong, they attack you even more and use your defense to support their position.

You wrote that you're suprised at the attacks just because you pointed out some things on here are sexist; can you not see that you went way beyond that in what you wrote?

I may not agree with everything everybody writes ... Bill has said some pretty dumb crap that I don't agree with, that's for sure, while at other times he's had some great insight. Scroll back through these threads and you'll read plenty of stupid things being spouted off. I fully expect that if I, or anyone, go too far in words that the thread would be closed for awhile or someone would be temporarily or permanently banned. Publicly attacking the site owner over his choice of content when you are a guest on the site crossed a line for me, its one of those silly ammendment things where you don't get to limit what others say. Gibrone - I know they're in the Bible.

He didn't bring up religion in the sense of having a discussion ABOUT religion...he quoted two well-known phrases without any specific context other than the passages themselves, which aren't "bringing up religion" as much as offering specific, traditional perspective about how to live one's life, separate from how they connect to Christianity, etc. I thought that distinction would be obvious.

BTW, technically shibus started the DT.net rememberances,,,etc. Thread, but it was effectively (look at his quote in post #1) my idea, and I usually kept the thread going by posting images of bouncing boobs. Others occasionally posted images of men w/o shirts, and assorted pics.


I never felt attacked by Lurker, I just wanted to clarify that effectively I was the one who ran and populated the thread. Hopefully there are numerous other threads that Lurker has found and that she finds enjoyable.



The site was never designed to have every thread appeal to every person, but it is my intention that most of the threads appeal to most of the members.


Perhaps this discussion will move along shortly to something a little less volatile (Politics discussed in this thread is the #1 reason why several renowned members gave up and left the site-quite a shame).
