Well I checked my profile and I have been a member for over a year now and I have never posted in this particular thread. As I seem to be spending a lot of my time here lately I thought I'd better formally introduce myself...
My name is Simon, but 'Goblin' or 'Stroppy' is fine, may it do ya. I have been collecting for over 20 years, more seriously for the past 5.
How did you discover the Dark Tower?
'The Gunslinger' was my 2nd ever SK book. I read it when it was first published in '82 as a book from the local library. I'd previously read 'Carrie' purely by chance as I picked it up at a friends house. I was a voracious reader in my youth, reading 5 or 6 books a week, focusing mainly on sci-fi classics such as Heinlen and EE 'Doc' Smith as well as Harry Harrison and other similar authors. My local library mixed horror with scifi so I happened to pick up Gunslinger. At first I thought it was a western but read half of it there and then - they were closing the library around me!
Who is your favourite character?
It's easy to say Roland, but I have a soft spot for Cort. I really enjoyed the expansion of his character when discussing the fairday riddles.
What is your favourite book?
Probably Wizard & Glass, but mainly because of the period with Blaine the Mono, which is split across the end of Book III and the start of Book IV. "The Long Walk' comes a close second - I have re-read this more than any other.
How old are you?
Born in '65 - so currently 47 (Go Garrety 47!! - Maines own!) (hah-that would have helped some of you in my recent riddle!)
Where are you from?
England - small town called Kenilworth in Warwickshire, nr Stratford upon Avon.
do you have a nickname?
yes
"A real limited edition, far from being an expensive autograph stapled to a novel, is a treasure. And like all treasures do, it transforms the responsible owner into a caretaker, and being a caretaker of something as fragile and easily destroyed as ideas and images is not a bad thing but a good one...and so is the re-evaluation of what books are and what they do that necessarily follows." - Stephen King

Hello, everyone. I had some trouble getting on, but finally got it worked out. Much thanks to Ben and RF for helping me. Some of you likely know me from the CD forums or the HWA forums, or Facebook. I was a graphic designer for 20+ years before following my dream, and pursuing writing full-time. I'm new to the book collecting business. I had some luck over at CD and won some money to spend on books. You can see my haul below. They produce some wonderful quality books. My primary interest in joining was to keep an eye out for replacement dust jackets, as when I was younger I had the bright idea of discarding mine. Yes, I know. Bad call. Anyway, I look forward to talking with many of you, and hope to share some of my other purchases, etc with you, as well.
I posted something here, but it doesn't seem to have gone through. Perhaps it will still show up, but in case it doesn't... My name is Kenneth W. Cain. I was a graphic designer for 20+ years and over the last few years began my writing journey. Some of you may know me from other forums or social sites. I've only recently started collecting, with some books from CD. I've been in search of replacement dust jackets for my King books. Anyway, I look forward to meeting and chatting with you all. Thanks for having me.
Welcome the site Kenneth. I have only been her for 3-4 months and I have found it to be mostly very welcoming. Can't wait to see your collections page when you get around to posting one. CD is a great place to start ones collection addiction.
Hey, Ken! Glad to see you made it here, my friend!

Mornin' all, this is me introducing myself.
How did you discover the Dark Tower?
I’ve been reading Stephen King on and off since my college days, and so, picked up copies of The Dark Tower books because I already liked his stuff.
Who is your favorite character?
Roland, I guess? I have yet to read past the first book in the Dark Tower series even though I have them all, so I‘m not too familiar with the characters and whatnot. (I don't get much time to read, but I'm planning on catching up with the series when I can!)
What is your favorite book?
I’m gonna have to say The Dark Tower provisionally, as that’s all I’ve read!
How old are you?
33
Where are you from?
England. Originally from near London and but have since relocated to the depths of the East Midlands.
do you have a nickname?
Yes. Reesh actually is my nickname!
Wecome to the site, Reesh. Now look around, make some posts, and enjoy the site.
Welcome Reesh! Please feel free to post often! (And get to reading the DT series! You'll love them!)
John
