Thanks for the welcome,
I know exactly what you mean ICry40y. I think you worded it perfectly. Reading DT is like being in a trance. Total escapism from my busy world. SK is the master.
I still feel like I haven't had enough of it. I am currently reading DT Concordance and the first hardcover of the DT Marvel Comics. I usually don't read comics but I am so hooked on the storyline that I am enjoying this one. I hope that what El Cid says about finding another good book to read after finishing DT is wrong. I haven't tried yet. It would completely stink if that was true.
welcome El Cid!

Welcome all new folk. We've got a great site here, just watch out for the crazies.
"It's his eyes, Roland thought. They were wide and terrible, the eyes of a dragon in human form" - Roland seeing the Crimson King for the first time.
"When the King comes and the Tower falls, sai, all such pretty things as yours will be broken. Then there will be darkness and nothing but the howl of Discordia and the cries of the can toi" - From Song of Susannah
It's not that bad really. I read a few books after finishing the first time and I was looking for new and different writers. Before that I was pretty much hooked on SK and it might have to do with the style of these other writers. Also after reading a story like this, (also Tolkiens Lotr and Paolinis Eragon) I had always the feeling that after the one book it can't be over yet if you understand my meaning.
I will be looking out for other stories that catch me like this one did. Currently I'm carrying again Wolves of the Calla with me
Sometimes I think I'm not quite normal for reading it again, but there are so many details and implications that it sometimes even makes sense...
What are you suggesting Matthew?
The answer is within
all matter is energy, all energy is GOD
How did you discover the Dark Tower?
I was in fourth grade and was a SK fan from the movies I had seen. I saw a bargain book with a train on the front and SK’s name on it, so I bought it. I tried to read it in fifth grade, but realized that it was part of a series. So I picked up the Gunslinger the next year and started reading.
Who is your favorite character?
Mike Noonan, Ben Hanscom, and of course (after crying after finishing the DT VII) Roland

Hello all, I've been lurking around this board for some time and finally decided to make an account so that I can chime in on some of the discussions. And as for the TC's questions:
How did you discover the Dark Tower?
A good friend of mine told me about the series long ago before I read any of Sai King's books, years later after reading a few of his books (namely IT, Desperation, and Insomnia), I became obsessed with King's multiverse and simply had to read the Dark Tower series.
Who is your favorite charcter?
Very hard to say, but i think I have to go with either Jake Chambers or Randal Flagg.
What is your favorite book?
Once again, hard to say, either Wastelands or Song of Susannah
How old are you?
I am 27
Where are you from?
south Texas
do you have a nickname?
not really, sorry.
Anyway, this board seems really awesome and I'm very excited to start discussing all things King related, thanks.

I'm brand spanking new and I'm a little nervous about hanging out here since I am only half way through Wizard and Glass - I don't want to find out too much before I get a chance to read it.
Anyway, here's some answers to some questions

What is your favorite book?
So far the Wastelands.
How old are you?

Hi All,
I'm really enjoying the site. It was a great find. Sorry to disappoint, Jon, but I'm a brand new girl at the window. Hope you don't hold it against me. Looking forward to lots of future discussions with everyone.

El Cid - Is your name a reference to El Cid Campeador?
Irish Eyes - Your mom got you into the DT? You must have a really cool mom.

Exactly, supposedly my profile pic shows his sword. I love his legend even though he was known to fight for many different sides during the wars that were. Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar received his nickname from the moorish folk who saw him as a lord or master (sidi). And myths proclaim he was invulnerable even though the legend explains why this is believed.
In a way after reading the Dark Tower, while thinking about such tales (also William Tells tale in Switzerland) I come to believe these characters were gunslingers of their times.
