ok so I was looking back at my 2008 book list and most everything I read was a reread. so this thread is for goals. What books are on your list this year for reading? whether it is a fresh book or a reread what is your wanting to read list?

My goals for this upcoming years are for delving into certain previously untapped authors.

Kurt Vonnegut
Ray Bradbury
Most notably, I will finally read LoTR *ducks*
Along with many specific books from misc. authors that I have already read.
If I have time I might reread some King, but not likely.

I want to take my first journey into the wonderful world of Kurt Vonnegut Jr., and use Sirens of Titan as my vehicle. I have yet to read the Lord of The Rings trilogy, so I at least want to get it started. The 3rd and 4th books of A Song of Ice and Fire series are also on my radar. Also, Harry Potter must be completed this year (currently on the 5th book).
I plan to finish the Harry Potter series when book 7 comes out in paperback in July.
I want to finish rereading all my King (I only got as far as the letter "F" this year).
I want to actually make a dent in the huge pile of books I have to read (although I suspect I can buy them much faster than I can read them).

My goal is to read all the outstanding King books I need to complete the Tower Connections forum and to finally read my Doom Patrol collection cover to cover.

As for this year, probably near the top of my list would be Water for Elephants. I had wanted to read this, this past year but never got around to it. Actually just got it for christmas so now I've got no excuse.

Some of the remaining King books that I haven't read yet (Most notably Misery, Dolores Claiborne, and Danse Macabre)
and I've also been curious about The Sandman, so I might pick up some of those.
Only the gentle are ever really strong.

I still want to read that half-unpublished scandalous novel that Truman Capote never completed.
I've never read any of his books. I have read some of his short stories though, I believe.
I have In Cold Blood on my bookshelf. In fact, I was supposed to read it as part of a senior year English course, but never got around to it.
In Cold Blood is wonderful. ( oh, is it okay to use the word "wonderful" to describe a book about a horrible murder? )
