About half of the first printings of The Tommyknockers had, on the copyright page, the statement "Permissions to come" instead of the various permissions associated with using other copyrighted works. There doesn't seem to be any real premium attached with these copies.

Yes, there is a UK 1st/1st hardcover. I think the only UK King books that did not have a hardcover 1st trade edition were CYCLE OF THE WEREWOLF and the first four DARK TOWER books. The trade PBs seem to get released more or less simultaneously with the trade HCs.
*edit* I always use ebay.co.uk to look for 1st UK trade HCs when I didn't get them through Amazon or in a bookstore. There are plenty of them listed as we speak, for example this one at £7.99: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/STEPHEN-KING-F...item4cf4a73c06 (never mind the stock photo). There are probably even cheaper ones out there.

near mint, white pages, not in shrinkwrap but has been in protective bag....DT III and IV are the only ones in shrinkwrap.

How much does a gunslinger 1st/1st, without dustjacket, go for?
Today there was one on ebay.com which was sold for $255. Is that a normal price?
A month ago a 1st/1st Carrie, without dustjacket, was sold for $117.
I don't know but I bid on it. Clearly, I didn't win with my 225 bid. I'd say the sale price seems about right considering it was in poor condition.
I checked out the one you mentioned with no cover (i was peeved that I missed it b/c I have the extra DJ) and it was a LIBRARY copy with no DJ, so I'd agree $250 or so is about right. VG ones go for $700+ At least that is what seems reasonable vs AbeBooks or something.....
I have several extra Gunslinger 1st DJ's. Conditions range from VG to Fine.

I have a dustjacket, too (only in "good" condition).
Did Grant offer those dustjackets like they do for the other books now?
Yes. They were available for several years after the publication of the book. I think they sold them for about $20 but they seem to be sold out now.
I actually bought two for $5 over 20 years ago.
