Thanks Tippy - that allowed me to discover that entry hadn't been updated with the new Table format! - All fixed now

And like all treasures do, it transforms the responsible owner into a caretaker, and being a caretaker of something as fragile and easily destroyed as ideas and images is not a bad thing but a good one...and so is the re-evaluation of what books are and what they do that necessarily follows." - Stephen King

    Hello everyone...been a while.

I have a friend in North Carolina who is selling his King collection, small but in great shape. I personally took these photos and I graded them. If you have any questions let me know. Buy more items, I'll work out a deal as these are his prices and he may be flexible. PM me and we'll go from there. Let me know if Photobucket link doesn't work.

    UPDATE FOR BOOKMARC'S IN BANGOR

I was able to get up there today and talk to Ginger. Turns out there are two collections that may be coming in. One is 10-12 books from a collector and should be there soonish. The other is 10-15 titles from a collector/investor and there is still some dispute over pricing. That one may be a little longer.

She asks that people just check the website at http://www.bookmarcs.com for new updates.
Once the books arrive, she has decided to contact the 10 people who have already left their names and numbers, in the order that they called. The first person will be given the chance to take up to 2 titles. She will then move on to the next name. She feels this is the best way to spread them around and to limit the possibility of one person taking them all just to resell. After that the remaining will be listed on the site (i guess).

At this time they do have a couple of signed books that she showed me. One is Different Seasons that was signed in '84 for $300. The other is a Pet Semetary (first state jacket, i checked for the '82 error) that was inscribed to "Joe" in '97. That one is $350.

The other very cool item was a copy of The Chronicles of Harris Burdick

    http://stephenking.com/library/antho...rdick_the.html

that was signed by both Stephen and Tabitha. There were only 12 copies of this signed by both for the benefit of the Bangor Library. She still has two copies. They are kinda pricey at $500, but the proceeds still go to the library and they were very nice to see and hold!

Hope this helps to clear things up a little. Ginger is still kinda embarresed (and ticked) that her boss posted the info so soon but thinks it will be worth the wait.

not sure I understand your question. CWalker stated above and I heard the same story, The library was able to get 12 books signed by SK and Tabitha King. The House on Maple Street is a reprint of a story in another book, I believe Nightmares and Dreamscapes. Chronicles of Harris Burdick reprinted the story, thousands of copies. The library was able to get 12 copies signed by SK and TK. I bought a copy from Bookmarks. the money is going to the library. The Chronicles of Harris Burdick signed by SK is one of my favorite, only 12 copies! Unless he signed more, but with Tabitha too! The fact that they are not able to sell all 12 copies makes me believe it is a little overpriced. But a call to the bookstore would confirm that the $ is going to the library. See listing below from SK website about the original book....

    The Chronicles of Harris Burdick
    The Chronicles of Harris Burdick
    Formats: Hardcover
    First Edition Release Date:October, 2012
    Edited By:
    Synopsis:

This anthology containsThe House on Maple Street by Stephen King (formerly published in Nightmares and Dreamscapes) as well as Archie Smith, Boy Wonderby Tabitha King.

    ---

An inspired collection of short stories by an all-star cast of best-selling storytellers based on the thought-provoking illustrations in Chris Van Allsburg’s The Mysteries of Harris Burdick.

For more than twenty-five years, the illustrations in the extraordinary Mysteries of Harris Burdick by Chris Van Allsburg have intrigued and entertained readers of all ages. Thousands of children have been inspired to weave their own stories to go with these enigmatic pictures. Now we’ve asked some of our very best storytellers to spin the tales. Enter The Chronicles of Harris Burdick to gather this incredible compendium of stories: mysterious, funny, creepy, poignant, these are tales you won’t soon forget.

This inspired collection of short stories features many remarkable, best-selling authors in the worlds of both adult and children's literature: Sherman Alexie, M.T. Anderson, Kate DiCamillo, Cory Doctorow, Jules Feiffer, Stephen King, Tabitha King, Lois Lowry, Gregory Maguire, Walter Dean Myers, Linda Sue Park, Louis Sachar, Jon Scieszka, Lemony Snicket, and Chris Van Allsburg himself.

Van Allsburg's Harris Burdick illustrations have evoked such wonderment and imagination since Harris Burdick's original publication in 1984; many have speculated or have woven their own stories to go with his images. More than ever, the illustrations send off their eerie call for text and continue to compel and pick at the reader's brain for a backstory—a threaded tale behind the image. In this book, we've collected some of the best storytellers to spin them.

The book had nothing to do with a charity. It was more about the photographs in the book! Schools around the country would show the photos to students who then had to write a story about the photos, Someone got the idea to have 14 famous authors do the same, although I suspect that having sk in the book was a big draw and they repurposed one of his stories for the series. Then someone got sk and tk to sign after the fact. I often thought about getting other authors to sign, but I never wanted to risk damaging my copy

    @Roseannebarr

I should have guessed that you would have one of these copies!!!
You are right, they are both beautiful books and a little overpriced. If they weren't being sold to support the library, they would have had a tough time selling many at $500. As it is though, they are an excellent addition to most any collectors signed pieces.

My biggest suprise though was that after leaving the store my wife said she wished she had the money right then and there. She would have bought it in an instant!!

I've listed several Cemetery Dance titles today at bargain prices as well as a couple rare Bentley Little ARCs on eBay and will probably be listing more books over the weekend. I have hundreds of collectible horror books that I will be going through soon to make room and sell for more King books.

500$ The Chronicles of Harris Burdick Signed by both Stephen and tabitha.
If that is to high , what would be a fair price?

I don't have an answer as to a "fair" price, but one way people could look at it is that they are donating $500 to a fantastic public library and getting a free book! Maybe someone could even tell us if buying the book would be tax deductible for US citizens? (probably not but worth a try).

I also got the feeling from Ginger that the price is set in stone at this time.

If you are donating to a non-profit then the gift would be deductible minus the price of the book. So about $470 of it is deductible.
