    Default Help

I am in a dire situation and need to sell whatever I can to keep power, water, etc. I have a signed first edition of Joe Hill's Heart Shaped Box for sale. I'm not sure how to go about selling it or where to find the value. I saw one online that sold for $99, so I want to get at least that much.

I will also be looking to sell other books, comics, etc. Could anyone recommend a site where I can find out values of those?

    Thanks very much.

    In sorrow,
    -Woofer

Woofer. I sent you a PM...I'll buy it for $100 as a kindness that I hope you will pay forward in some way to someone else. Hope this brightens your day a little bit. TYSM

Thanks John! I appreciate that. And likewise for John. He is a great seller and buyer and trustworthy. Never hurts to shout that out for people's rep with some people trying to scam and so on on the boards, FB, etc.

I am glad you are happy with the packaging!

I spend a minimum of 15 minutes packing up each book I sell.....because an extra few minutes makes all of the difference.

Each book is first slipped into a clean, new, plastic bag (with a minimal amount of tape so it is easy to open), and then packed in an appropriate sized box that allows for padding on ALL sides of the book....and enough padding to keep the book centered....so it cannot move at all while in transit.

And don't forget I went to TWO post offices on Saturday to get your book shipped because the first one was closed because of the earthquake! How is that for service?

OK...enough shameless self promotion...but seriously, thanks for the kind words, and the purchase.

Yep, top marks to Tippy4 for packaging from me too. This is how my Gunslinger 1st arrived from him...
"A real limited edition, far from being an expensive autograph stapled to a novel, is a treasure. And like all treasures do, it transforms the responsible owner into a caretaker, and being a caretaker of something as fragile and easily destroyed as ideas and images is not a bad thing but a good one...and so is the re-evaluation of what books are and what they do that necessarily follows." - Stephen King

Packing up expensive books is paramount in my opinion (and all of us here too I am sure). David at Bett's should be noted for excellent packing as well!

My 1st rule of packing, before you tape the box, move the box in every direction, if something slides or moves, you don't have it packed correctly. Start all over.

I can't begin to tell you how many times I cringe when a package arrives and I can feel it moving inside.

I learned to pack from Tippy! And I agree with RF....my most labor intensive job is packing and shipping at Betts.

Dragline : Nothin'. A handful of nothin'. You stupid mullet head. He beat you with nothin'. Just like today when he kept comin' back at me - with nothin'.
Luke : Yeah, well, sometimes nothin' can be a real cool hand

"A real limited edition, far from being an expensive autograph stapled to a novel, is a treasure. And like all treasures do, it transforms the responsible owner into a caretaker, and being a caretaker of something as fragile and easily destroyed as ideas and images is not a bad thing but a good one...and so is the re-evaluation of what books are and what they do that necessarily follows." - Stephen King
