I'm Danish so I don't understand baseball at all. This is a book I've only read portions of. King's parts. O'Nan is too obsessed and detailed, whereas King talks about other stuff as well, and his sections are, as always, a good read. But, yeah, this book is not one to be re-read any soon, if ever.

i'm american and i don't understand baseball at all. if someone is throwing something at me at over 60mph i AM NOT going to just stand there and TRY to hit it. and then run around in a fucking diamond pattern? and then let somebody hit something that has just been thrown at them at over 60mph toward ME (so that it's going, what, 140mph) and hope that it doesn't hit me? what the fuck is wrong with those people? go read a book or something!

Never read. I'm not really a fan of baseball.

I used to mock baseball fans by comparing it (unfavorably) to cricket, but now that they have that turbo-charged cricket I think that analogy is outdated.
