Wow, I'd have had quite a week if my friggin' Bucs defense could have played like the Bucs defense. They only gave up one rushing TD going into last night and then they let Williams and Stewart destroy them. When Barrett Ruud and Derrick Brooks are missing tackles, the Bucs are going to lose every time.

I could go on another one of my rants about how Gruden is a terrible coach, in fact, I think I will...

(1) He STILL doesn't know how to use the replay challenge. He blew it on a meaningless play in the first half challenging a catch that Smith clearly made. Not long after that, Antonio Bryant made a great catch and took the ball to the 1/2 yard line before touching his hand out of bounds. The official marked him out between the 2 and the 3 yard lines. Doesn't sound like a big deal, but when you are as bad a red zone team as the Bucs, every inch counts. If he hadn't blown his challenge, Gruden could have challenged the spot and from the 1/2 yard line they could have given the ball to Askew and pounded it in. Instead they tried for 2 ill-advised passing plays and a run with Williams, none of which worked and they settled for 3 points.

(2) Gruden was born without a sense of urgency. They trailed by 7 late in the 2nd quarter and got the ball back with 2 minutes to go. Gruden called short plays and just ran out the quarter. They could have at least tried a 2 minute drill to try to get points. Worse than that was when they got the ball back with 1:30 to go in the game and no time outs Gruden called a f'n running play! Are you kidding me? Even with no time outs they could still spike the ball but was Gruden telling Garcia to do that? Nope. He was calling short passes and running plays. He's a damn quitter and I cannot respect that in a coach. I admit, it seemed unlikely they'd score 15 in 1:30, but it's not impossible, unless you don't try, like Gruden. The guy gets worshipped here in Tampa, but he proves week after week that the team wins in spite of his bad coaching.
