    Default Stephen King Library letters

I have a request that's quite particular, but I think this is the right place to ask.

King apparently wrote four different letters to the members of the Book-of-the-Month Club's Stephen King Library:
    • "Welcome to the Library" (1990)
    • "A Note from Stephen King" (1994)
    • "From the Desk of Stephen King" (1998)
    • "A Word from Stephen King" (2000), available online
I'm looking for copies of the first three letters. Any tips are welcome, either in this thread or via email (see the vCard in my profile).

    Thanks!

I've been trying to find these three first letters myself, and it ain't easy. According to Justin Brooks' bibliography, "A Note from Stephen King" and "From the Desk of Stephen King" was reprinted, so it's odd they've never appeared online.
If you get lucky with your request, would you care to share?

I've got a letter of some sort in a red leather edition of CARRIE by the SK Library but I'll have to wait until I get home to see if it is one of the ones you are looking for. I am pretty sure it has never been reprinted.

    @DanishCollector: Yes, sure.

@carlosdetweiller: Thanks, I'm curious about the outcome.

According to Justin's book, "A Note from Stephen King" is a four-page letter and "From the Desk of Stephen King" is a one-page letter.

I could've sworn I read that "Welcome to the Library" (1990) hasn't been proven to exist yet or I could be wrong........

Yes, I read that too. My guess is maybe it's a letter he wrote that wasn't used or something like that. If so, that one would be impossible to get hold on. It could also have been a rumor, of course.

I've got two versions of "A Note from Stephen King." Both are four page pamphlet type things laid into the book. One is copyright 1989 and the other is copyright 1999. The text is the same except in the 1989 version he refers to THE DARK HALF and NEEDFUL THINGS as current and upcoming respectively. In the 1999 version, of course, he doesn't. The picture of King on the front of the pamphlet is current to the time published so different for the two versions.

So these are scarce, huh? Ha! I knew there was a reason I bought this book club edition of CARRIE.

I don't have a scanner. I'll contact Justin Brooks or Rocky Wood and see if they need them. If they do I'll get the text to them some way and I suspect you guys have some sort of sharing relationship with them and can get copies.

It is just the faux red leather edition with the gold lettering stamped on the spine and front board. If you search eBay for key words: King, red & leather you will see several that look just like it.

carlosdetweiller: In Justin's book he lists "A Note from Stephen King" to be first from 1994. That must be a small mistake then, since your copy says 1989.

It must be. Justin said (in an e-mail last night) that the 1989 version has been on his want list for a while. So he at least was aware of an earlier version.
