I am developing a way for members to have the option to read their own work out here. I think it would be cool to hear it in the voice of the writer so I thought it might be a nice option.

I'm in the process of learning everything I can about podcasts and from what I can tell, its very simple. A software download to record is free and if you don't have a mic...you can get one for like 10 bucks at Walmart

Not only that, if someone liked how another member read, they could ask that their own work be read by that member.

So I am just guaging interest here, the technology is available and I think this would be a creative way to use it.

Whenever I record simple voice readings, I go super cheap and use my PowerBook's built in mic and Ableton Live. However, I wouldn't mind finding good podcasting 'ware.

There's recorded readings in both Fruno and my poetry threads, if the links still work. I haven't checked.

If it's on FileFront (mine is) they save the files.

No problem. File hosts like YouSendIt and SendSpace delete files after a while, whereas FileFront doesn't as long as you register (it's free).

as Matt if you feel like reading one another's work, I believe it might be interesting, too. I don't even think you have to wait for the author to ask you.
