Summertime Rolls by Jane's Addiction is one of my favourite songs ever, and contains some of my favourite lyrics:
Summertime Rolls
Fell into
A sea of grass
And disappeared among
The shady blades...
Children all
Ran over me
Screaming tag!
You are the one!
He trips her as
Her sandals fail
She says stop!
I'm a girl...
Whose fingernails are made
Of her mother's pearl...
Yellow buttercup
Helicopters
Orange buttercat
Chasing after
The crazy bee
Mad about somebody...
Me and my girlfriend
Don't wear no shoes
Her nose is painted pepper sunlight...
She loves me
I mean it's serious
As serious can be...
She sings a song and
I listen to what it says:
If you want a friend
To feed any animal...
There was so much space
I cut me a piece
With some fine wine
It brought peace to my mind
In the summertime...
And it rolled
Summer.... oh...
Oh oh oh summertime rolls
Me and my girlfriend
Don't wear no clothes
You know, her nose is painted pepper sunlight...
I love her, I mean its oh so serious
As serious can be...
Me too!! Theres not a song I don't like on it. Can't say I felt the same way about Ritual de lo Habitual though...but Been Caught Stealin' is a classic.
I liked Ritual... I just thought it wasn't quite as good or even close to Nothing's Shocking. I could listen to that album over and over back to back.
I mostly just listen to Been Caught Stealing and Three Days - perhaps I should give the rest of it another go - its been a while since I listened to the whole thing.
Do you like Porno for Pyros too?
I liked the first album okay. I just didn't like them nearly as much as Jane's. Are you familiar with Psi Com?
Oh man Jane's Addiction rocks!

I prefer Jane's too, don't know of Psi Com though...tell me more!
Psi Com was Perry Farrell's first band before Jane's back around '84-'85. Their stuff can be a little hard to find. I have their one official release. I haven't checked the songs here out yet, but I just found a link to some mp3 downloads of their songs here:

i like the lyrics to Caravan by Van Morrison. Especially this part:
Turn it up, turn it up, little bit higher, radio
Turn it up, thats enough, so you know its got soul
A true firewasp ninja would never wear such a ridiculous sweater.
There's logic in nonsense.
Give me all the bacon and eggs you have.
Tori Amos - Crucify
Every finger in the room is pointing at me
I wanna spit in their faces then I get afraid of what that could bring
I got a bowling ball in my somach, I got a desert in my mouth
Figures that my courage would choose to sell out now
Ive been looking for a savior in these dirty streets
Looking for a savior beneath these dirty sheets
Ive been raising up my hands- drive another nail in
Just what God needs, one more victim
Why do we crucify ourselves
Everyday I crucify myself
Nothing I do is good enough for you
Crucify myself
Everyday I crucify myself
And my heart is sick of being in chains
Got a kick for a dog, beggin for love
Gotta have my suffering so that I can have my cross
I know a cat named easter, he says will you ever learn
Youre just an empty cage girl if you kill the bird
Ive been looking for a savior in these dirty streets
Looking for a savior beneath these dirty sheets
Ive been raising up my hands- drive another nail in
Got enough guilt to start my own religion
Why do we crucify ourselves
Everyday I crucify myself
Nothing I do is good enough for you
Crucify myself
Everyday I crucify myself
And my heart is sick of being in chains
Please be
Save me
I cry
Looking for a savior in these dirty streets
Looking for a savior beneath these dirty sheets
Ive been raising up my hands- drive another nail in
Where are those angels when you need them
Why do we crucify ourselves
Everyday I crucify myself
Nothing I do is good enough for you
Crucify myself
Everyday I crucify myself
And my heart is sick of being in chains
That's a good one.
Always loved some Jethro Tull
Skating Away on the Thin Ice of a New Day
Meanwhile back in the year one --- when you belonged to no-one ---
You didnt stand a chance son, if your pants were undone.
`cause you were bred for humanity and sold to society ---
One day youll wake up in the present day ---
A million generations removed from expectations
Of being who you really want to be.
Skating away ---
Skating away ---
Skating away on the thin ice of the new day.
So as you push off from the shore,
Wont you turn your head once more --- and make your peace with everyone?
For those who choose to stay,
Will live just one more day ---
To do the things they should have done.
And as you cross the wilderness, spinning in your emptiness:
You feel you have to pray.
Looking for a sign
That the universal mind (!) has written you into the passion play.
Skating away on the thin ice of the new day.
And as you cross the circle line, the ice-wall creaks behind ---
Youre a rabbit on the run.
And the silver splinters fly in the corner of your eye ---
Shining in the setting sun.
Well, do you ever get the feeling that the storys
Too damn real and in the present tense?
Or that everybodys on the stage, and it seems like
Youre the only person sitting in the audience?
Skating away on the thin ice of the new day.
The kindness of close friends is like a warm blanket
"Swing Life Away" by Rise Against
Am I loud and clear, or am I breaking up?
Am I still your charm, or am I just bad luck?
Are we getting closer, or are we just getting more lost?
I'll show you mine if you show me yours first
Let's compare scars, I'll tell you whose is worse
Let's unwrite these pages and replace them with our own words
We live on front porches and swing life away,
We get by just fine here on minimum wage
If love is a labor I'll slave till the end,
I won't cross these streets until you hold my hand
I've been here so long, I think that it's time to move
The winter's so cold, summer's over too soon
Let's pack our bags and settle down where palm trees grow
I've got some friends, some that I hardly know
But we've had some times, I wouldn't trade for the world
We chase these days down with talks of the places that we will go
We live on front porches and swing life away,
We get by just fine here on minimum wage
If love is a labor I'll slave till the end,
I won't cross these streets until you hold my hand....until you hold my hand
I'll show you mine if you show me yours first
Let's compare scars, I'll tell you whose is worse
Let's unwrite these pages and replace them with our own words
We live on front porches and swing life away,
We get by just fine here on minimum wage
If love is a labor I'll slave till the end,
I won't cross these streets until you hold my hand
I especially like the last verse of this one.
"Life Less Frightening" by Rise Against
Suffering from something
We're not sure of
In a world
There is no cure for
These lives we live
Test negative for happiness
Flat line, no pulse, but eyes open
Single file like soldiers on a mission
If there's no war outside our heads
Why are we losing?
[Chorus: x2]
I don't ask for much (Life less)
Truth be told I'd settle (frightening)
For a life less frightening, (Life less)
A life less frightening (frightening)
Hang me out to dry
I'm soaking
With the sins of knowing
What's gone wrong
But doing nothing
I still run
Time again I have found myself stuttering
Foundations pulled out from under me
This breath is wasted on them all
Will someone answer me
[Chorus x2]
Is there a God tonight
Up in the sky
Or is it empty just like me? (Just like me)
A place where we can hide
Out from the night
Where you are all I see (Where you are all I see)
So blow a kiss goodbye then close your eyes
Tell me what you see (Tell me what you see)
A lifetime spent inside this dream of mine
Where you are all I see
There's one hole in every revolution, large or small. And it's one word long.. people. No matter how big the idea they all stand under, people are small and weak and cheap and frightened. It's people that kill every revolution.
Oh yeah, darkthoughts, Tori Amos ROCKS! Crucify is one of my favorites.
A recent one I've stumbled on (this poor CD was stuck in my car for 5 weeks while undergoing repairs, so I'm listening to it and Breaking Benjamin nonstop - withdrawal symptoms, you know!) is 30 Seconds to Mars' From Yesterday - it makes me think of Roland:
"From Yesterday"
He's a stranger to some
And a vision to none
He can never get enough,
Get enough of the one
For a fortune he'd quit
But it's hard to admit
How it ends and begins
On his face is a map of the world
(A map of the world)
On his face is a map of the world
(A map of the world)
From yesterday, it's coming!
From yesterday, the fear!
From yesterday, it calls him
But he doesn't want to read the message here
On a mountain he sits, not of gold but of sin
through the blood he can learn, see the life that it turn
From council of one
He'll decide when he's done with the innocent
On his face is a map of the world
(A map of the world)
On his face is a map of the world
(A map of the world)
From yesterday, it's coming!
From yesterday, the fear!
From yesterday, it calls him
But he doesn't want to read the message
He doesn't want to read the message
Doesn't want to read the message here
On his face is a map of the world
From yesterday, it's coming!
From yesterday, the fear!
From yesterday, it calls him
But he doesn't want to read the message here
From yesterday,
From yesterday,
From yesterday, the fear
From yesterday,
From yesterday
But he doesn't want to read the message here
But he doesn't want to read the message here
But he doesn't want to read the message here

I've seen them in concert before. Jared Leto is dreamy.
I am Daenerys Stormborn and I will take what is mine. With fire and blood.
Yep, you're right Chris. I will go edit. My bad. I knew that lol.

If it weren't cradle-robbing, I'd do his brother lol. Something about those eyebrows. Woooooo!1. I've seen them in concert before. Jared Leto is dreamy.

I'm on a Roland kick tonight. Sue me.
This one by Breaking Benjamin really makes me think about the ka-tet:
"Until The End"
So clever,
Whatever,
I'm done with these endeavors.
Alone I walk the winding way.
(Here I stay)
It's over,
No longer,
I feel it growing stronger.
I'll live to die another day,
Until I fade away.
[Chorus:]
Why give up, why give in?
It's not enough, it never is.
So I will go on until the end.
We've become desolate.
It's not enough, it never is.
But I will go on until the end.
Surround me,
It's easy
To fall apart completely.
I feel you creeping up again.
(In my head)
It's over,
No longer,
I feel it growing colder.
I knew this day would come to end,
So let this life begin.
[Chorus]
I've lost my way.
I've lost my way, but I will go on until the end.
Living is hard enough
Without you fucking up.
[Chorus]
I've lost my way.
I've lost my way, but I will go on until the end.
U-uh, u-uh
The final fight I'll win,
The final fight I'll win,
The final fight I'll win,
But I will go on until the end.

Fuck tha police
Comin straight from the underground
Young nigga got it bad cuz I'm brown
And not the other color so police think
They have the authority to kill a minority
Fuck that shit, cuz I ain't tha one
For a punk muthafucka with a badge and a gun
To be beatin on, and throwin in jail
We could go toe to toe in the middle of a cell
Fuckin with me cuz I'm a teenager
With a little bit of gold and a pager
Searchin my car, lookin for the product
Thinkin every nigga is sellin narcotics
You'd rather see me in the pen
Then me and Lorenzo rollin in the Benzo
Beat tha police outta shape
And when I'm finished, bring the yellow tape
To tape off the scene of the slaughter
Still can't swallow bread and water
I don't know if they fags or what
Search a nigga down and grabbin his nuts
And on the other hand, without a gun they can't get none
But don't let it be a black and a white one
Cuz they slam ya down to the street top
Black police showin out for the white cop
Ice Cube will swarm
On any muthafucka in a blue uniform
Just cuz I'm from the CPT, punk police are afraid of me
A young nigga on a warpath
And when I'm finished, it's gonna be a bloodbath
Of cops, dyin in LA
Yo Dre, I got somethin to say
Oh My Word!! I haven't heard that in YEARS!! Some guys at my school got kicked off the school bus for playing it on their ghetto blaster (and the fact that I said ghetto blaster shows how long ago that was )
I love that song. Rage Against The Machine covers it pretty good too.
livin' fast and dying young like a endless poetry
my motor-psycho nightmare freak out inside of me
my soul salvation liberation on the drive
the power of the blaster move me faster

Momma told me there would be DAYS like this. SHe is coming back around, though...to put things back the way they should be. HIS story? Nah...we've had enough of that.
