OK, next question.
Harrison Ford is an example of an actor playing the same movie character over a very long time period (27-year spread: Indiana Jones in 1981 and 2008, with several intermediary portrayals).
Name two other actors/actresses who can beat that record. You can not pick two actors from the same movie group. The actor/actress must have played the same character in at least 3 films.
I can think of two. There may be more.
The movies haven't actually been released yet but next year Harrison Ford will again be playing a character he first played in 1977 along with Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher. That's 38 years.
Hearts are tough, she said, most times hearts don't break, and I'm sure that's right . . . but what about then? What about who we were then? What about hearts in Atlantis?
Wow. That would count, if the move had been released. But for now, NO! Try again!
Jackie Chan as Inspector Chan Ka-Kui from The Police Story Movies
Angus Scrimm as The Tall Man from The Phantasm movies
Bruce Campbell as Ash from The Evil Dead Movies, he is credited as Ash in the Evil Dead remake after the credits end
Let me assess each one:
Jackie Chan as Inspector Chan Ka Kui: First appearance in Police Story (1985). Over the next 11 years, reprised the role in Police Story 2, Supercop, and First Strike. Starred in New Police Story (2004) but as (I believe) a different character. To qualify for a proper answer, there would have to be a 28 year spread, meaning 2013. Chan did appear in Police Story 2013 last year; however, is credited as character Zhong Wen, not Chan Ka Kui. Preliminary answer: NO.
Angus Scrimm as The Tall Man: First role in Phantasm (1979), then in various sequels but only through 1998. Looks like a qualifying movie Phantasm: Ravager will be released next year. Similar to the Star Wars situation. NO.
Bruce Campbell as Ash: First role in The Evil Dead (1981) and then a couple of sequels. I see a credit for "Ash" in the 2013 remake. Please elaborate. Might qualify on a technicality, although I'm looking for "starring" or prominent roles, not uncredited cameos.
William Shatner as Captain James Tiberius Kirk
thats the only one i can think of at the moment
William Shatner: First appearance as Kirk in a movie role in Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979). Last appearance(?) in Generations (1994)? Even if including the TV show (which debuted in 1969), you only get 25 year spread.
I also see various other TV credits (archive footage?), video game credits, and video shorts. None of which counts.
Answer: NO.

OK, let's see what we've got. I do believe Herbert Lom *is* a correct answer. First appearance as Charles Dreyfus in A Shot in the Dark (1964), with various sequels ending with Son of the Pink Panther (1993), a spread of 29 years all playing the same character.
I don't see how Johnny Weissmuller fits. According to my reading of IMdB, first appearance as Tarzan was in 1932, last was 1948. Likewise, I think the rest of your answers miss the boat b/c I'm looking for a spread of time more than 27 years. I didn't check any of your other answers, so if you think one qualifies, please re-post with more information and dates.
For the record, I did not come up with Herbert Lom, so there are at least 2 more correct answers. Maybe more?
