Oh yeah, "Rocky" rates. So does "Rambo", no? Also what about, Al Pacino as Mike Corleone? Also maybe, Sean Connery as "007"?

I have not used "google" or any internet, just memory, if that counts at all. LOL

Ok, let's see what we've got.

Sylvester Stallone as Rocky certainly does qualify! That was one of my answers.

Ann Robinson as Sylvia van Buren is a great answer. 53 years! However, let's discuss the qualifications. The War of the Worlds (1953), good. The Naked Monster (2005), good. We only need one more movie appearance. TV appearances not allowed. The War of the Worlds (2005; cameo), credited as "grandmother" not van Buren, so no good. According to IMdB, she did appear as "Sylvia van Buren" in a low grade sci-fi spoof called Midnight Movie Massacre (1988). From what I can tell, this was a straight to video clunker that never got a theatrical release. So is it a bona fide "movie"? I love the answer, so I say YES. This qualifies!

Bill, your guesses of Rambo, Corleone, and Bond are good tries but none reach a 28-year spread.

    To recap, three qualifying answers:
    Herbert Lom as Dreyfus
    Sylvester Stallone as Rocky
    Ann Robinson as van Buren

My other answer, not guessed, is Alan Hale, Sr., playing Little John
Robin Hood (1922--the silent one with Douglas Fairbanks, Jr.)
The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938--the one with Errol Flynn)
Rogues of Sherwood Forest (1950--the one with John Derek)

    28 years!

Anyway, good job Bruce. You go.

I'll add Desmond Llewelyn as Q in the James Bond movies. 35 years between Goldfinger and the World is Not Enough.

Even though I got the answer I think we can assume Ann was indeed Sylvia Van Buren (Mrs Clayton Forrester?) due to the fact the cameo is in a remake of The War of the Worlds with Gene Barry her co-star in the 1953 film. WHY ELSE WOULD THEY BE THERE?

Damn, I was almost certain, Rambo qualified. Now, if Harrison Ford reprises his role as Han Solo, he qualifies for sure, right?

This 1985 film is based on a scenario published in 1953 in book form & was written by a famous poet & starred an actor from the Bond franchise. This story has been filmed many times before & even after with actors like Boris Karloff, Bela Lugosi, Peter Cushing & Christopher Lee.

OK, I can't make many of the clues fit, but Fright Night was released in 1985; and vampires fit a scenario of "filmed many times" and "with actors like Boris Karloff, Bela Lugosi, Peter Cushing & Christopher Lee."

I'm assuming this is incorrect but thought I'd throw it out there.

was the story filmed many times before 1953 (that is, independently of the published scenario)?
