It's been a weird (understatement) year for film but I thought I would put together a list of my favorite films so far this year.

    1) Tenet
    2) Palms Springs
    3) The Devil All the Time
    4) The Invisible Man
    5) Extraction
    6) Onward
    7) Bad Education
    8 ) Lovebirds
    9) Kajillionare
    10) The Hunt

I literally strugged to find 10. Yikes.

My thoughts on the ones I've seen and a few others that I haven't but am familiar with.

Antebellum - haven't seen it but it was critically panned.
Birds of Prey - fell asleep, have to revisit.
Da 5 Bloods - one of the biggest disappointments of the year. People are watching this one with 2020 glasses. The film is a mess.
Enola Holmes - fun but unspectacular.
I'm Thinking of Ending Things - odd and predictable.
Kajillionaire - enjoyable, but in normal year would not make my top 20.
Mulan - haven't seen it yet, but I've heard mixed things.
Onward - powerful animated film, deserved better. COVID cut into its box office
    Palm Springs - LOVE
Possessor - solid sci-fi arthouse film.
    Tenet - Masterpiece
The Devil All the Time - I loved this one too. Great performances.
The Hunt - much ado about nothing. This film should never have gotten so much media attention. Enjoyable film though.
The Invisible Man - Fantastic film
The Old Guard - standard Netflix action flick. The Chinese food of film.
Underwater - Blah, very disappointed with this one.

Was watching Back to the Future 2 yesterday and a thought popped into my head. They never really explain how and when Doc and Marty became friends. I mean Marty is just some 17 or 18 year old HS student and Doc has to be in his 50’s or 60’s in 1985.

Also I’m curious what Doc did between the events of when he sent Marty back in 1955 and when he unveiled his time machine to Marty in 1985. He had to have already had the memories of helping Marty previously right? He had to have known his time machine would work because he had already seen it in action 30 years prior. But they never actually address that.

So he would’ve had to have kept that entire story a secret from Marty while still befriending him somehow so the events of the 2nd and 3rd movie could eventually take place.
Hearts are tough, she said, most times hearts don't break, and I'm sure that's right . . . but what about then? What about who we were then? What about hearts in Atlantis?

One of my favorite hidden gem horror movies is getting a prequel:

    https://deadline.com/2020/11/orphan-...el-1234607908/
Julia Stiles has boarded Entertainment One and Dark Castle Entertainment’s Orphan prequel Orphan: First Kill (né Esther), and we hear that the star of the 2009 feature, Isabelle Fuhrman, is also returning to play her iconic role of Esther.

William Brent Bell (The Boy franchise) is already shooting Orphan: First Kill in Winnipeg. In order to help Fuhrman bring her character to life again, filmmakers are utilizing a combination of forced perspective shooting and a world-class makeup team.

In Orphan: First Kill, written by David Coggeshall, Leena Klammer orchestrates a brilliant escape from an Estonian psychiatric facility and travels to America by impersonating the missing daughter of a wealthy family. But Leena’s new life as “Esther” comes with an unexpected wrinkle and pits her against a mother who will protect her family at any cost.

Dark Castle’s Alex Mace, Hal Sadoff and Ethan Erwin are producing with James Tomlinson. David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick will serve as an EP with Jen Gorton and Josie Liang overseeing for eOne. Sierra/Affinity is handling international sales.

Stiles’ feature credits include Hustlers, Jason Bourne, Silver Linings Playbook and Showtime’s Dexter, on which she received a Golden Globe and Primetime Emmy nomination. She currently stars in and serves as executive producer on the series Riviera.

Fuhrman’s past credits include The Hunger Games and Showtime’s Masters of Sex. She is starring in Screen Gems’ Escape Room 2 set for a 2021 theatrical release.

Stiles is represented by The Gersh Agency, Untitled Entertainment and Sloane, Offer. Fuhrman is repped by UTA and Gang, Tyre.

The first Orphan follows a husband and wife who in the wake of losing their baby, adopt a 9-year-old girl who is not nearly as innocent as she claims to be. The movie, directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, starred Vera Farmiga, Peter Sarsgaard and Fuhrman. Orphan opened to $12.8 million domestic, finaled at $41.5M, and neared $78M worldwide.

Great content suggestion and an even greater film choice!!!!! Personally, I rate the "Indiana Jones" films as follows:
    1. Raiders of the Lost Ark
    2. Last Crusade
    3. Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
    4. Temple of Doom

I pretty much love them all, but for no discernable reason other than it's somewhat darker nature, "Temple" is my least favorite.

Side Note: A proposed "Indiana Jones V", is rumored to be about "The Fountain of Youth" and will be actor, Harrison Ford final portrayal of the character. (2021)

I caught that one at the drive-in this year. I forgot how great that film is. The chemistry between Ford and Connery is off the charts.

It really is. A shame we lost him. He stated the only way he would come back to film after retirement is to do another Indy movie... I think we lost a real opportunity there. The two of them worked so so well on screen together.

Sean Connery, had a way of making anyone acting along side him better!! Alec Baldwin (The Hunt for Red October), Kevin Costner (Untouchables) and every "Bond Villain" he played against) come to mind.
