Thanks for that list, Mike. It looks like it's only playing in one theater in MD (and a second starting in mid-December). I'm hoping it'll get a wider release as Oscar season rolls around.

A NEW GAME BEGINS
Is anyone else planning on checking out The Imitation Game?
I am, assuming it actually opens up around here.
Also, I got invited to an early screening to The Theory of Everything, but it filled up before I could get the tickets. In case you guys don't know, you can sign up with gofobo.com and receive invites for early screenings. Fernando, you should be taking advantage of early screenings, I'm sure there are tons in your area. Then again, there is probably 4 times the amount of interest in such things.

Saw Fury last night. Gave it a four of of five rating. Very, very good. In the same vein as Saving Private Ryan, but grittier and more of a "loss of innocence" atmosphere.

So I have a huge pet peeve with animated films these days. It seems like everything over here is now all computer generated. I just watched The Wind Rises, and while I wasn't a fan of the film, the animation is so wonderful, that it really makes me miss it. Everything from Disney and Pixar, even to a lot of tv animated shows, are all done by computers, and they don't look nearly as good. I know it's probably cheaper and easier for them to create them this way, but it really is a shame. I wish more studios would invest in creating a 2D animated film.
Only the gentle are ever really strong.
I agree, to a point. I like computer animation a lot but now everyone is doing it. They're even doing it (well, a mix of hand-drawn animation and computer animation) for the new Peanuts movie, which I'm not a fan of. There's just something nostalgic about hand-drawn animation.
A NEW GAME BEGINS
I agree, which is why I was hoping at last years Oscars the Best Animated Film would be either The Wind Rises or Ernest and Celestine. It ended up being Frozen, of course. The year before there wasn't even a traditionally animated film nominated, although they could've picked movies like Moon Man, Wolf Children, Wrinkles, The Painting, etc.
This year I'm also hoping for one to finally win, so it could be Song of the Sea, Rocks in My Pocket, Giovanni's Island, but I'm really hopping it's The Tale of the Princess Kaguya, though I don't know if The Boy and the World is eligible.
The last hand-drawn film to win Best Animated Oscar was Spirited Away in 2002. Sad...
Speaking of animated movies I want to see this:

And The best hand drawn animated movie I've seen in a few years is My Dog Tulip. I've watched that one a few times.

Yes, My Dog Tulip is great, went very much under the radar.
I liked how crude the animation was. I can only assume the style was lifted straight from J.R. Ackerly's doodles themselves. Ackerly was also gay, which gives the film a different depth of understanding though it never really puts that fact out there.

That is very sad. It's also sad that most of the films you guys have mentioned are foreign films. Not that that's a bad thing by any means, but it bothers me that Hollywood these days won't even make a classically animated film, especially Disney. Oh and I just watched Frozen recently, well bits and pieces, my niece is obsessed with it, so she made me watch it with her and I was pretty disappointed. There was so much hype around it, I was expecting this amazing film, but I didn't think there was anything special about it.

I mentioned The Boy and the World, I really cannot wait to watch this so badly:
Not to divert this into an animation thread but this also looks very cool:
Okay I lied here's one last one I'm really looking forward to:
Fantastic Planet is still my favourite animated film
