Before my first child was born, I simply assumed if the baby was a boy, we'd have him circumcised. My wife put a stop to that line of thinking. By the time my second son was born, it was a foregone conclusion that he would not be circumcised.
Her lines of reasoning:
1. It is completely unnecessary from a health standpoint.
2. More parents are choosing not to circumcise (at least out here on the west coast) so he (now they) won't be different, they won't be the only ones in the locker room, etc.
3. When they are old enough to make their own decisions, they can choose whether to have this elective surgery on their bodies.
And the big winner:
4. I made this child in my body, went through a lot of ____ (fill in the blank - lots of options), worked hard to keep this child safe and healthy throughout pregnancy, and will be going through the birthing process for him. There is no way in hell anyone is going to start cutting on my baby needlessly right after they are born.
I couldn't really argue with any of them, but especially not that last one.

Patrick, I can't argue with her logic on item 4, but I've read quite a few health issues that leave me with the idea that circumcision isn't a bad idea like many try to make it seem. That's my opinion only, but I certainly understand letting your boys make their own decision when they're older.
