I'm just thankful the finale wasn't a dumpster fire for me. Overall I enjoyed the show, but there was a lot that didn't work for me at all. My biggest gripe is that this show adds nothing of value to the overall narrative. Sure we got cool Vader stuff, and some fun fight scenes, but this show literally adds nothing. You can just as easily erase it and nobody would miss anything.

Well, IDK about that. I mean we got a glimpse of what transpired before, Luke meets him in Ep IV and after Ep.III. So we also got some applicable story in that regard as well as a glimpse at young Leia which I thought was kinda cool. Perhaps I enjoyed it more because I'm not a fan of the animated series. Plus, if it really turns out to be only the 1st season and they give us a second it may have more impact. Just a thought.

Outside of Mando, the animated series' (except Rebels) are the best thing going for SW these days. Fett only got good once the core Mando cast entered. There is no need for a 2nd season of Obi. DW has plenty of other irons in the fire series wise. I just hope they're worth watching.

Exactly. I feel like Star Wars is in a tricky situation with their legacy characters. After the sequel trilogy left fans more or less divisive, Disney is more open to telling stories with fan favorite characters, however each time they do it's diminishing returns. It's like playing with fire each time they do something like a Obi wan or Bobba Fett show.

Like I said earlier, I enjoyed the show for what it was, but how could they justifiably extend this? Sure more adventures with Obi Wan are fun, but knowing the creative force they're more likely to make polarizing decisions and not add anything of real value. What's next? Greedo secretly teamed up with Obi Wan to save some empire oppressed colony? Yawn

We'll have to agree to disagree on that subject.

To be fair, the finale was amazing (best ep of the show), it gave us all the fan service and pulse pounding action we SW fans could want.

Unfortunately though I think the high of the finale papered over a lot of cracks. This show still committed way too many sins for me to say it was a creative success. I'm glad we got a chance to visit these characters again after all these years, but I can't shake the feeling that overall it was a missed opportunity.

What we really need is a kick ass Vader series. His series of comics I've read are really outstanding.

Unfortunately, that’s the nature of the beast. Given the end of Revenge of the Sith, and the events of A New Hope, it’s really pretty limited as to what can happen to these main characters in the interim. As it is, they were pushing it with respect to the canon established in A New Hope. You can explain it away … just … but they can’t really do much more.

I really liked the series a lot, but I think it ended perfectly as a link into A New Hope. I think another series would stretch the canon to breaking point. As much as I like seeing Ewan McGregor as Kenobi, I think another series would be overstaying it’s welcome.

Personally, I think the Mandalorian worked better, precisely because it was largely independent of most established canon. They were free to tell a story withour worrying too much about the other movies or series.

Joel Edgerton gave one of his finest performances.

You guys are pulling my leg with this, Joel Edgerton stuff, right? I mean he had like what? A page of dialogue and maybe 20 mins of screen time for the series, no? LOL Also, he's never been recognized by the academy or anything has he? Don't get me wrong, I mean he's a good actor and all just not what I would deem as a "Star" so far in his career anyway.

I saw him in this "horror" movie I think was called "They come by night" and it was terrible. I know he was in the last two prequals but I don't recall a memorable performance. He was alright in the role as it were IMHO. To me he's kind of a second stringer so far in his career.

Of course I don't go in for independent or artsy type films so maybe I'm missing some awesome performances or something. School me if I'm off base. Just nothing he has done comes to my mind right away.

He was great in "Lawless" and "Warrior". He's just one of those actors who kind of fly under the radar, but are super dependable in whatever role they play

Okay, yeah I get that. He's a capable actor, no doubt. He ain't no, Deniro or Downey though. Of course perhaps he just needs the proper format or film. "Lawless" and Warrior were kinda, meh IMO. Maybe that's why I didn't recognize his performance.

Oops, it was Jason Clarke in Lawless I was thinking of. He's another actor I think who's always dependable though

A fan has edited the Kenobi series down to a 2-and-a-half hour movie:

    https://www.kaipattersonfilms.com/kenobi

Summary of differences behind the spoiler:
    Spoiler:

    Copy/Pasted from here: https://www.reddit.com/r/StarWarsKen...mment/ifddmtd/

While there were obviously a few clunky edits (an action sequence on Daiyu has some issues for example), overall I felt it was much more streamlined and coherent. A lot of the fat was trimmed and the story felt much more centered on Obi-Wan. Some of the key things from the edit that really stuck out:
    • Reva's role is significantly cut down (a ton of her scenes are cut entirely) and yet her motivations and backstory still come out in what I feel is a more organic way.
    • The Leia kidnapping scene is dramatically improved.
    • The entire Luke/Reva subplot and sequence are cut.
    • Obi-Wan and Nari meet in the desert at night FIRST, and then the scene when Nari is confronted by the Inquisitors is cut in a way that shows Nari being killed there - it makes
    • Obi-Wan seem much more complicit in his death and makes his guilt over his death much more impactful.
    • In the final fight Duel of the Fates and Battle of the Heroes are both used and they work really well.
There are some smaller editing choices (some added voiceover, music changes, etc) that are interesting and I feel that it really reveals there were some good bones to the series but a lot of it was overwhelmed by excess subplots and some poor pacing decisions.
While the series had some great moments, I feel you could honestly watch this cut and still get a great experience out of it.

We can only hope that no Joel Edgerton scenes were cut!

A whole trilogy huh. Wonder if we would have gotten even more screen time of Reva flaring her nostrils comically to convey villainous menace.

Lol! She was hands down one of the worst aspects of the show. Her original arc that was talked about for the movie sounded much better, but Disney foolishly pushed for a spin off with her, so they completely butchered her whole character with motivations and decisions that literally make no sense. She clearly should have been killed off (like intended), but instead she rode into the sunset and made Obi Wan and Vader incompetent fools

Not related. Different last name Egerton vs Edgerton.
